According to Kuchera, Microsoft may well be readying a new round of price cuts for the Xbox 360.

Now, writes Kuchera, courtesy of his source, "the mole," Microsoft is planning to roll out new pricing on the entire line of Xboxes. For a console with no hard drive, the price could be $199; for one with a 60GB hard drive, it could be $299; and the high-end model, known as the Elite, with a 160GB hard drive, could go for $399.
 
Don't be so melodramatic, M$ could drop the price on the 360 to $99 and I really wouldn't be surprised if it still couldn't match the Wii sales, that price drop may hurt PS3 sales (globally) but it's certainly not the end of the war (a 'war' ?), people were saying the same when they had the last big European price drop which made the arcade pack even cheaper than the Wii but people keep on choosing the Wii over the arcade pack and Sony still stayed ahead in sales every month in the EU which even surprised me tbh.

If the arcade 360 dropped to $199 and say it was to sell here in the uk for £120 it sure would hurt sony bigtime because thats about the price a ps2 sells for.
The Wii caters for a different type of gamer.

To be honest, Its that far into the life of the 360, I doubt price wars are gonna make that much of an impact. It's now down to whats available and what each console offers more so than the cost of each.

That's the way I see it anyways :)
