Yeah, but it doesn't benefit them to do that now. With previous iPhone owners they're getting an extra couple of months plus, possibly someone using an O2 simplicity sim with their old phone. With these they'll treat it like a normal phone!

We shall see :) There's plenty of time before it'll matter :)

Yeah, I guess.

Has anyone got a link to that youtube video where putting a hand over the back causes the signal to drop off, then come back again when you move your hand? I'm pretty certain mine is doing that...

Did you go back then? I didn't notice it before the software update. I definitely notice it now though!

So, off I popped to the Apple Store, which is thankfully a whole 15 seconds walk away. 10 minutes later I walked out with a new iPhone. Bargain you may think. Wrong !

Do you live IN meadowhall or something? :P

Not taken it back as it's only recreatable at home, doesn't happen anywhere else.

And no I don't live in Meadowhall. I do work there though :)

Yeah, I was able to re-create it in the grounds of where I work. I'll have to give it a go in a couple of other places first.

I have a poor signal in my house 1 or 2 bars but everytime i pick the phone up it shows no service!!

There is defo a hand and signal problem. freaky.

I read that the silver border around the screen is the antenna. I wonder if touching that it alters the antenna's properties? Extra capacitance?

Where've you read that? The antenna is the bit at the bottom where the black area is on the v1.

The antenna is part of a load of different bits on the camera, the trim around the camera lens, the trim around the phone and a couple of other bits

Was quite impressed when I heard it the other day

Again, where did you hear that? Sounds interesting.

You're right about the £30 plan being useless, however there is some merit to buying "at the right time" because you're tied into a 18-month contract which you would have to buy out if you wanted to get a new phone early.

Very true, and the very beggining of a products life ensures you'll get the most out of it possible! Couldn't be a better time to buy an iPhone! I very much doubt we'll see anything even in the next year 'blow it out of the water'. It's miles ahead in useability terms, so they just have to worry about adding more functions to following models. There are phones out now that kill it spec wise, but it's useless if you can't use any of it!

I think if a new iPhone is released in 12 months time we'll see o2 offering the same deal to 3G owners. Loyalty means a lot in the phone world, and signing up to another 18 month contract is valuable. Assuming you went for the £35 (As you get the most for the least sum) before offering an upgrade they will have taken £99 + 12 months @ £35 = £519.. out of a possible £729 for the full 18 months.. But with a garunteed £420 + Phone, more (Assuming yet another upgrade in 12 months - repeat cycle) by signing up to another £35 tariff. The chances of you haggling for a reduced contract are pretty much out the window too due to them offering it to you mid contract, so less to worry about there for them.

Nope, same way no one with any other phone has to pay for a contract :p

I only pay £14/month for more than what you get for £35/month :) Saved myself £99 and the hassle of signing myself to an 18 month contract !

Is the back of the new 3G phones as easily scratched as the v1?
Also a pain in the backside the dock doesnt work with 3G phone

Ah nuts looks like my foof is coming out of hibernation until something arrives then!

is it just me or does the white on screen look grey/green? White definitely isnt white
