I'm looking at buying a SEAT Leon Cupra R at the weekend which will be the only petrol car I have ever driven with a Turbo. I have read you need to let the turbo warm up and down, but is there anything else I should know? Having seen the price of replacement turbos I want to ensure I don't blow one :p

Make sure you don't have a heavy right foot. Turbo cars can dump a lot of power into the rear wheels and put the back end out easily. Make sure you take time to get used the the difference between turbo and normally aspirated performance.

Not really. Like you say, just get the engine warm before thrashing it but the same applies to every engine.
go easy first and last 5 miles to be on safe side.

Yep i can see this being a major issue.....

In a FWD car.

unless you rag the nuts off the car constantly, without letting it warm up or cool down properly then your highly unlikely to blow a turbo up on that platform, unless you start messing with boost of course ;)

good lord  they pretty much all have dump valves. you're thinking of vent to atmosphere valve, whereas the manufacturer probably has fitted a recirc valve. they do know best you know.

Adam - dont worry about it, really. you know it's there and you sound like you have common sense. have fun :)
