I was carrying my case through into my PC room as I have just fitted a new CPU cooler and I was carrying it with the side off - front bays facing the floor and it just slipped out my hands... crash into the floor with a big bang.

The DVD drive that was in via the bay clips was hanging out, the cooler is now BENT and I'm just not happy!!!!

So the lesson here is... do everything in the same room!

These happen mate, hope you manage to salvage things and how about some pics so that we see the extent?

Taken a few snaps:

Notice how I'm directly over the PSU yet the cooler is leaning. Also you can clearly see the bracket on the cooler on the left side but not the right.

careful you have not ruined the integrity of the heatpipes on the cooler they do contain a fluid that is critical for them to operate correctly.

Painful mate =/

I'd check to make sure you haven't cracked anything on the motherboard too. That sort of stress on the HS would result in a lot of bending at the base as well.

I think the heatpipes holding the fins in place will be whats been bent. Copper is very soft so be careful else you could end kinking or even fracturing a pipe.

I hope you get sorted, like mentioned above copper is soft so you can bend it back, but be carefull you don't course another area to bend out of shape!!

I'll take a look at it tomorrow, I've had to up and running for a few hours, temperatures on the cores seem a bit high if I'm honest so it definately needs reseating. I can imagine with it being at such an angle areas of the cpu aren't being cooled as the side its leaning to so this will need sorting!

ouch.

i also have to move my pc to a different room if i want to do something to it. just waiting for something like that to happen:(
