Manchester United vs Portsmouth - Community Shield *SPOILERS*

The referee's are professionals just like the players, why is it okay for the referee's to get something so obvious wrong but the players should be penalised?

They are both guilty.
Because the referee made a mistake which he will probly have to explain to whoever is above him, but he didn't start acting like a child who wants a new toy.

And your point is?
Both were at fault, which I said. However referee's get away with murder, if I made as many mistakes as a professional as referee's like Clattenburg and Rennie do I'd get the sack.

Yep, it would have been a travesty if he didn't to be honest. Nobody on either side has come close to him today.
He's been like this all pre-season too, incredible.

This game has summed up what I think our first couple of matches are going to be like, lots of possession but with only one player in attack we're going to struggle for goals.

Rooney should be near fully fit for Newcastle, hopefully Carrick will be also

Still need a top quality striker (cant believe this hogwash about SAF being interested in Henry)

The referee can't act like a child who wants a new toy simply because it's his decision.

Players aren't payed to get decisions correct in that respect, referees and linesmen are. Sometimes they get hard decisions wrong which is fair-enough... but blatant ones like that are ridiculous.

It's like Mark Clatenburg (sp?) last year when Carra rugby tackled somebody in the box.

Giggs should not be on the pitch.

Its like playing with only 9 outfield players all the time.

Why oh why does he keep getting starts?

I can accept mistakes if they're one offs, but they're not. They happen for all teams, week in week out, and the cost teams dearly sometimes.

The FA is so concerned with respect, that no one is allowed to question referees anymore, not even the FA themselves. The standard of refereeing in what is possibly the best league in the world is not good enough.

If a player or a manager isn't good enough, he loses his job, refs seem to get their contracts extended.

You do realise that referee's get warnings and even stopped from refereeing top games if they have bad performances. When your at work do you stamp your feet and shout at people like a big ******* girl. Tevez and Nani are pathetic, and with this new rule i'd be expecting them to get a lot of yellow cards.

I probably would stamp around that much if the person in charge was so incompetent, yes.
You say Tevez is 'pathetic', but that's the first time in 2 years I've seen him ever react, but you obviously don't watch properly.

Because SAF loves him as much as Scholes

In this match it doesnt matter that much (esp as FC is slightly injured, no one else to play upfront)

But I really hope that he gets less starts this season

I don't think Giggs has been that bad today, considering where he's being asked to play.

Giggs was the worst player on the pitch, including theirs.
He broke down almost every attacking move we had, his passing was abysmal, he's slow, he played about 3 hospital balls I can think of off the top of my head.
