What can a newb cook?

Spagetti bolognaise

1 pack of mince
1 large onion
1 punnet of mushrooms
1 tube of tomato puree
1 jar of oregano
1 pack of smoked bacon
1 stick of celery
1 large carrot
1 tub of passata
1 can of chopped tomotoes
2 cloves of garlic
1 pack of good quality spagetti
splash of red wine

chop all the veg up small
brown the mince and bacon and take out the pan
cook all the veg
put mince and bacon back in
chuck a splash of wine in
put half tube of puree in and mix it all up
put the oregano in(about half a jar) and mix
add the garlic
add a sprinkle of flour
then about half the pasata
add the can of tomotoes
then simmer for abot 20 mins
add a knob of butter for improved taste

Best to cook this then leave it for a few hours at least as it will taste better though this is not essential.

I been cooking this for about 5 years now once a week and I find it great though if anyone knows how this can be improved then lets hear it:cool:

That sounds the absolute *******'s!

Right, fancy writing me a guide on what to do in what order to cook it all? :) - I'm being deadly serious.

Many Thanks :)

Err.... ok. This is a bit adhoc so bare with me.

Right first get a chicken breast and if it has a skin remove it.

Lightly score the breast to allow flavour to get into the meat.

Season it with salt and pepper. I'd also add a bit of cayenne pepper and paprika.

I'd then thinly slice some garlic and sprinkle it over the top.

Then get some bacon (streaky preferable) and wrap it around the breasts. Secure with cocktail sticks.

Finely dice some onion and slowly fry in some butter until softened (if it's going brown you've got it too hot) It should take a few minutes.

You could also fry a finely diced pepper as well if you fancy and add that to the base of an oven proof dish.

Put the wrapped breasts on top and add some cherry tomatoes around the beasts (drizzle a bit of olive oil and balsamic vinegar on top of the tomatoes)

Bake at about 180C for an hour or so. To check if the breasts are cooked stab it with a knife and make sure the juices are clear.

To cook the couscous follow the instructions on the packet ;)

Serve

wait do you bake it on top of the onions?

edit: also does it need to be covered in foil or anything?

Yes, well I do. But this was literally made up last week from the stuff that I had to hand, so it's not set in stone or anything.

As a second thought, you could also add a can of chopped tomatoes to the medly half way through to give you a sauce for the couscous.

Well I think this is my dinner sorted :D

Anything. Cooking is not hard as long as you follow the recipe. If they tell you to do a technique you dont understand then google it. A good place to start might be italian food. I just decided to cook using proper recipes one day and so far I haven't had many disasters.
