cant see it happening really, not 600+ bhp without serious serious work.
Serious work indeed
Did you look into any better manufacturers before settling on Wossner pistons, like Cadbury's or Nestle?
Should be very interesting if you do get it to 650 bhp

What is your transmission rated at?
Well, i have heard the same things off a few other people that the wossner pistons are a bit 'soft' compared to the others, however there are a few people that have been running these pistons fine. I still not sure what compression to run at yet, so i could quite easily swap these out for another set.
The drive train is remarkable strong and quite a few R32s with FI take around 700bhp before any serious upgrades are needed. I think this is due to the system basically being the same as the one in the older 2.7 Twin Turbo RS4 so fairly underrated in a standard R32.
The clutch/fly wheel however need a serious upgrade.
The stock pistons and rods are good for 600bhp, the stock crank for well over 1000bhp, the gearbox is good for about 450/500bhp. The clutch, as has been said, has been significantly upgraded, using clutchmasters stage 4 carbon ceramic 6 puck single disc (might upgrade to twin plates yet)
Believe me when i say there are many, MANY doubters out there. However, with the research i have done, the contacts and friends i have made, this will be and IS going to be possible. I am not going to rush it, the front end is off the car currently, and im just waiting for some space to clear up at a friends garage so i can use his ramp to finish removing the engine.
Someone mentioned and R36 base, this was considered, however they are still quite expensive (5500eur on german ebay) and that would cut into a big chunk of what else i wanna do.
Back to the gearbox, the weak link is 3rd gear, however the selectors have already been changed with updated versions, and i will be using the HPA/HGP gear set which upgrades the gearbox further.
