Do we all agree that Babylon 5 beats Star Trek?

The thread title says it all really.

I never really watched Babylon 5 when it was on tv - I only bought it because series one was like 20 pounds in virgin one day. I bought it and world of warcraft the same day and used to grind with B5 playing in one window. I think I watched series 1 in about 2 days. I went and bought the rest of the series and loved them to bits. I loved them so much that I realised that I wasnt even playing WOW any more just watching B5 in a tiny little window!

I know from my friends (who are semi geekish like me) that even geeks look down on B5 geeks but I dont care! I love it!

School boy error title.

And yes, I agree 100%

Edit: But BSG is better.

I've just finished watching seasons 1-4 and I would say it's definitely better than DS9 which I'm guessing is the closest of the startek serials that you could compare it too, I'll always love ST but BAB5 just blew me away, the story arc is just immense, hardly any filler episodes at all, it was hard at first to get into becuase of how old it looked, the hammy acting, the cheesy music, but the story just keeps pulling you in.

Babylon 5 was epic and at least attempted to make the different races look unique rather than give them slightly different ears

I liked star trek, except for voyager which even seven of nine couldnt make watchable.. But Bab5 was so much better imo :)

What he said too :P

Yes.

B5 beats Star Trek up, takes it's lunch money and leaves it crying for it's daddy.

It's just a shame that the B5 team had to practically fight for every penny to keep the series running*, whilst Star Trek managed to waste so much on Voyager and Enterprise.
I think i've said it before, but the only star trek to come close to B5 is the one that most closely mirrored it, and then only once they actually developed an ongoing story (rather than alien creature takes over secondary character/holds main character hostage/gets jiggy with junior character episode #137).

*Wasn't it very nearly cancelled at least 3 times, including them not knowing if they were going to be able to do the planned season 5 until after season 4 had wrapped up (iirc they ended up tying up a number of plot points early, resulting in them being rushed into a couple of episodes instead of over a series).

guys, they're all lame :)

Begone from the nerdy sci-fi thread :D

Anyway I dont remember hearing anything about it being threatened with cancellation but I dont doubt it :) I know they filmed it on very little money :)

Wasnt too horribly fussed on the last season if im being honest, and *hushed voice* crusade was rubbish :(

Edit: They even had bester to keep the trek fans happy :)
