Slightly off topic for this forum, but just wanna gauge opinion on something.

Got a new Toro 20655 mower which has a Briggs and Stratton Quantum 675 engine. I have been waiting until I got hold of the fuel additive (B&S Fuel Fit) before firing her up. What I was wondering is would I get better performance from using Super Unleaded (97+ ron) over standard Unleaded (95 ron). Also which would be more stable and would it best storing in a metal jerry can rather than the wee red plastic thing I have at the moment.

It makes no difference - to all questions.

EDIT:Jerry cans are only needed if you need to carry loads of petrol - a plastic thing is fine.

The only thing I was overly concerned about was the plastic container as I have had it for over ten years, but if it still does the job why change it I suppose.

Use the cheap stuff. I put 99RON in my mower all last summer and had nothing but trouble trying to start it. That may have been down to a faulty diaphragm, but I've been using 95 this year and it's been brilliant since.

Personally I wouldnt use anything but VPower in my mower.

Fox, your sarcasm is dangerously misleading sometimes.

Funny, but misleading. :D

If your lawnmower has a knock sensor it may be able to make use of higher octane fuel. However, high octane fuel does tend to degrade more quickly, so it may be better to put up with the power loss of using 95 RON.

Use whatever you want but buying super unleaded for a mower is an utter waste of money.

Dude, they're all pulling your chain. It will make no difference whether you use either.

Your mower will not know what fuel is going into it, won't have an ECU and won't be able to adjust itself to make use of the higher octane fuel. There is no point using the uber stuff. I only used 99RON in mine as that's what I filled my car up with at the time.

I went for a Honda mower as the VTEC is essential for keeping the grass under control.
