Hi guys, just after thoughts and opinions really, just got a few quid aside at the moment not doing a lot, sold a few personal items off that I no longer use. I went on the DVLA registrations site at work while a bit bored and started looking how stupidly priced some with my initials are, then I came across one that suited me even better than just the 3 letters. The reg is J15 LSC, June 15th being my birthday.

This is up on the DVLA site for £250 inc. VAT and the £80 transfer fee thingy.

Just wondered if I should opt for it or keep my cash :/

On a nice car = yay
On an Astra = nay

If somebody drives past in a Mercedes with J15 LSC on it I'd think 'nice car'. I just dont think it really works on Vauxhalls etc, unless you've got something like an Astra VXR, or a Monaro, or something, then it'd be cool.

I've fancied a set myself for ages but can never justify spending the money - there is always something else I'd really rather spend 250 quid on. I suspect I won't ever have any unless I get them as a gift.

If it's on a Bentley, fine, because a Bentley is a vanity car in the first place.

If you're planning on putting it on a Vauxhall, however, people will just mutter things too nasty to type here when you drive past.

What about an MX5? Something to hide the age or something, nothing too fancy

Dunno, think an MX5 would carry it off actually. It doesn't matter how old it is or the fact its a Mazda, it's a 'Sports car'.

I think what I'm getting at is that on a regular hatchback it looks daft.

Excellent, that's what I'm thinking. I'll consider it when I have £250 to spare, lol

Think of all the wonderful things you could spend £250 on.

I have SOMEONE ELSE'S personal registration on my car. It was there when I bought it, it hides the age of the car though and doesn't look too far from a normal reg. so I just left it.

Why on earth would you spend £250 or in some cases much more to advertise your initials on your car? Why? Is it to show off to the neighbours?

Supercar or not, putting your initials on your car makes no sense at all.

V1 PER on a Dodge Viper or V3 TTE on a Corvette would be cool but putting your initials in 3 inch tall letters on your Astra makes no sense at all. A waste of £250.

Why don't you just order up a new set of plates with your existing registration number and put your name, address and telephone number on the bottom?
