WoW Rogue Question

I've been away for WoW for some time but a protracted absence from work has tempted me back to it.

However, I don't feel like playing my druid so I have created a rogue. I'm enjoying it so far and have just reached level 10. The question I have is - do I have to go to a weapons master to be able to use swords and if so where is the nearest one for alliance (I'm currently in Darnassus).

You can find out in game by asking a weapons master; he/she will tell you which skills can be found in each city. I am fairly sure you need to head to Stormwind for swords, though.

I wasn't sure if you had to train in the skill or if it came naturally to rogues. Never played a character with swords before! I'll have a trip to Stormwind to have a look.

Stormwind or The Exodar. If you're in Darnassus, Exodar will be faster to get to.

Rather than create a new thread just thought I'd post in here.

As a new rogue what stats should be looking at when choosing weapons etc?

Used to be crit chance/ agility/ attack power when I played. However if you are leveling abit of stamina doesnt go amiss.

Mh weapon needs to be slow whilse Oh needs to be fast.

I started a Rogue not long back, she's only Lv.18 at the moment though. Guess I'll have to work on her a tad and give levelling my main (Hunter) a rest.

The basic stats a Rogue needs are:

Attack Power
Crit
Hit

1 Agility gives 1 Attack Power and a certain amount of Crit and Dodge that depends on your level.

1 Strength gives 1 Attack Power.

None of the other stats do anything for Rogues.

Crit, Hit and AP are also obtainable as raw stats on items, but they are not found much at low level. There are other stats such as Expertise and Haste but you don't need to know about those yet.

Also, if you want more health you need Stamina (low health is bad for PvP).

For weapons, the DPS and speed are the only important things. Slow weapons in the main hand make your special attacks hit harder and fast weapons in the offhand make your poisons proc more. A 2.8 speed 30DPS with loads of intellect is way better than a 2.0 speed 28DPS weapon with agility.
