Beijing 2008 Olympiad

been a while since anyone has drawn such attention in the 100m, I cant remember they're bein this much hype since Lewis and Christie goin at it, not sure what that year was though, maybe 92.

The recent mint sprinters, Greene, Gay, Gatling all them guys, they all come along and smash the field and maybe shave a couple of seconds off the record but then you never hear of them ever again. I dont think that will happen with Bolt seein as he is so young but still though, he coulda knocked off a fair bit more of that and I know you get money everytime you break and yeah he is clearly capable of beatin it another 3 times but all it takes is his goin over his ankle or somethin gettin out of bed and hes never the same again, then the next big thing in sprintin comes along and knocks off 0.01 of that record etc.

Instead he could just busted his balls and knocked 0.1 off the record and then hes the new Michael Johnson. We'll see what happens in the 200 innit.

Bolt made it look absolutely effortless. He's an amazing athlete. Theres no doubt he can knock more off that time. And like Michael Johnson said, there's no one to challenge him. Not at the level he's at. Unreal

I never thought I'd see anyone touch Michael Johnsons unbeatable 19.32 in the 200m but with this lad who knows what he could do in it! After all that used to be his main event he only started running the 100m this season

Im sorry but he really should have gone for it

great run - but he doesnt have a god given right to be in the same shape again in 4/8 years time

Yeah fine people get sponser money for beating World Records - but at the Olympics is a one or two chance thing (in the final) , MJ's reaction was great though

I guess he could be saving himself for the 4*100 or the 200m, but would it have made that much difference(in the other races) if he had gone for it completely for the whole 100m , Im not sure

I think the case is that the fans want to see records broken more than the athletes, you see it in lots of races where they just ease off at the end despite the chance of a PB/WR. At the end of the day the main priority for anyone at the Olympics is to come home with a gold medal, anything else is a huge bonus.
