This week 'Silent Cooling solution' 4870?

in that case then im getting my credit card hahaha! i cant believe people are going to get free delivery :( o well my 10% discount will jus have to do on its own lol

Can the fan speed be changed on this? My otherwise good Powercolor 3870 PCS doesn't allow you to change the fan speed at all.

ive ordered my new setup this mornin and it will come on monday, so wen its all setup and hopefully working i will post on this thread *** results i get, i only got 3dmark 03 SE tho lol but i will let you know how this powercolor pcs extreme performs ;) im looking forward to it now haha

Prob won't have mine till next Wednesday now as I'm away for a few days but will definitely run some benchmarks and post back

you should jus buy one, as its in week only offer and you can get free delivery cus uve posted more than 250 time on the forums! you should take advantage lol

I guess theoretically overclock better...however the reference 4870 has a much beefier and completely different power reg circuit compared to the 4850 but it doesn't seem to have helped it oc much. I see vmodded 4870s doing 880-920mhz stable 24/7 which is about what I do

Im stuck between the choice of the powercolor 4870 512 extreme and the powercolor 1GB.
1 is fast and quiet and the other has more vram to cope with games that demand more memory

1GB is not really necessary unless you game at 1920x1200 (with high AA and texture settings) or above resolutions.

thats what i have been reading.........then on the other hand i have been reading other people posting saying why the 1GB is very important over the 512.

just mainly screen resolutions from *** i can gather, what screen size do u have?

Well............i built my son a new system and gave him my flatscreen, so im due to buy a new flat screen at some stage:D. so for the moment i have my old 19" crt.
I know you will say that the 512 is more than enough but that would mean that i will have to change my GPU when i buy my new flat screen.

24" Have also seen a cheap 1GB version as well.
Why did you change you mind about this board becuase you said in this thread that were put off about buying it.

i was put off becasue the card had a few bad reveiws, but they were reveiws on the pre0released version, and the problems have been fixed in the released version so im hoping that it will be a good performer! and on a 24" you should be fine with the 512MB ;)

Turns out mine arrived yesterday in my absence, neighbour had kept it for me. Going away early tomorrow so won't get a chance to test it for a few days - arrrgh! Physically it's both shorter and lighter than my 8800GTX. Hopefully the heat pipes work as well as they look.
