Halal food acceptable in Britain?

Some very bizarre posts in this thread mixed in with sanity.

There is nothing wrong with british veal and there is nothing wrong with halal. Both are in no way cruel.

If there is an alternative which is proven to be less cruel, i think it is fair to say the more barbaric method will be the cruelest.

Very true but it makes for a bit of a crap argument. "Cutting their throats is too cruel, we need to bash their brains in".

When your brain dead you can feel anything.

Choice between having my brain smashed by a bullet/bolt, or having my throat slit. I take the bolt.

Slitting the throat of a animal is not cruel, have you ever worked at a farm? Cruel would be causing pain and suffering prior to slaughter.

Actually i have been on a farm when cows have to take the bolt, even when they will not be entering the food chain. I'm sure there is a reason why vets don't pull out a rambo knife :confused:

Go get a real razor blade cut yourself, and tell me you didn't feel a thing

On the scale of things that is nothing to a death of animals in the natural world. Stop moaning about halal slaughter and complain about chinese slaughter methods. Throwing cats and dogs live into boiling water, skinning them whilst alive.

A quick slice to the neck is what I'd do to animal if I were to kill it myself, that or break it's neck (only works for small animals)

I know but I'm sure you see the point I was getting at. I've only seen videos of cows being slaughtered so not exactly first hand experience but what I saw certainly couldn't be described as a fun day out for the cows.

Besides the actual death I'm sure most animals are aware of what's going on, they all have instincts of self preservation etc so I reckon they'd know what was coming.
