If Russia declared war on the United Kingdom....

From what I can see, Russia has no real reason to attack the UK? Also, I wouldn't fancy Russias chances as we would most likely be backed by the United States.

Nuclear silos are designed to withstand nuclear attacks, as thats where the first wave of missiles is going.
 
Silo doors have to be open to launch, and the ICBM itself isnt bomb proof. So there is a short window in which the silos are open to attack.

Also airfields could be bombed to prevent the launch of airplanes with nuclear capability. Or if they have already been launched, fighters can be sent to intercept.

lulz, don't be so silly. They wouldn't gain anything from assisting us, they would drop us like a hot plate.
 
A war between the UK and Russia wont happen because both sides can't win, we might not have Russia's nuclear capability but we would deal them a crippling blow at the least it would be pyrrhic victory for either side.

also we're no where near a war

I would, practically every member of my family (well, the guys) have served this country in the military in some form or another, I couldn't due to medical reasons but I'm guessing if they were calling people in then it wouldn't be such an issue so I'd love the chance to serve the country as long as I thought it was for a justifiable cause, and defending our country from a Russian invasion seems like justification enough for me.
 
This wasn't a thread about if Russia would attack us, its if they did and a World War started would you sign up to the army.

Seems none of you would. Not one person would protect there birth place.

How times have changed or is it a case of the GD brigade.

It was a light hearted thread at patriotism and doing something right but that is suicidal at times.
 
Well frankly if things got so bad that Russians would openly declare war against us there will be a conscription.

Still I would sign up in a heartbeat and I wasn't even born here.

Did you not read my post, I would without question, but I have medical issues, but I'd still sign up if they would let me, I'm guessing if things got desperate then hopefully they would take on anybody that is willing to fight regardless of health issues.

Why would we go to war with them? We can't beat them to take their natural resources and get away with it, and we don't possess anything they might want. None of the major world powers have any reason to go to war with any of the others.
 
Taking super nukes out of the equation, who do you guys reckon would win in a war between the UK and Russia? No other countries involved.
