Jade Goody has Cancer

Gotta admit tho, it is ironic that although no one give a **** about her, we're on page 5 already:p

Have you not considered that it could actually increase donations to places like Cancer Research which helps far more people than Jade Goody? Ignoring cancer doesn't make it go away. The more awareness of people getting it, the more effort goes in to fighting it.

But I would find it a tragic shame if Jade survives because of her money, where many (IMO) more deserving people will die because they don't have it.

Youve lived long enough now to surely get a grasp that richer people, or people in the spotlight will be treated differently.

Again, I've never said I wish cancer on her, or her to die because of it. In fact it seems some people here actually read that into my posts just because they want to take the moral high ground themselves.

Newer drugs which are very expensive and more effective aren't always taken by the NHS. There's usually something in the news every couple of months about this, because somebody has a greater chance of survival if he/she was allowed a regime, but due to how the NHS manages its finances, it's not available for free...but say this patient was to go private?

Also, never heard of people raising money to go abroad and try and a revolutionary new treatment? They can't do that without buying the access first can they?

There are plenty of other examples I could give you, so as said, your initial statement isn't so black and white.

It's not a manageable disease. It's not like treatment is linked to income. Yes you can go private but you can't save someone that can't be saved.

You've kinda missed the point entirely.

No one has mentioned income, NHS or private health care. I'm talking about the price of the Drugs that have become available, They are overpriced.

Entertainment is a perspective. It's an opinion. Where do you think Jade Goody's money came from? Big Brother? No. It came from her charging £200,000 a time to turn up at clubs, selling stories to magazines and newspapers, and other misdemeanors.

Wether or not you agree with it is irrelevent. I think she's an idiot. I dont find her entertaining at all. Other people *want* to read about her. they *want* to see her. Otherwise papers wouldnt pay her, magazines wouldnt write about her, people wouldnt buy her book. They might not be *you* or *me* people, but they are people who want to be entertained, and they have money to spend on it.

Our opinion on what she deserves means diddly squat when in the grand scheme of things, she already *has* made millions of pounds from telling stories about herself. I dont see how you can argue that.

(this isnt an attack, as it seems now that i've read it back... try to take it with a pinch of salt)

A few months ago my reaction would have been "meh, I don't know her, so what?". But recently a close friend has been diagnosed with Lymphatic Cancer so I really feel for her friends and family right now. It's all too common :(
