Ever wanted a Mercedes? Well you won't now..

Its obvious here that you "like" football, and as such won't hear a bad word about it. But the fact remains that most young footballers are nothing more than overpaid yobs with no class, grace or style. They mostly have foul behavioural traits both on and off the field, and have the vocabulary of a toilet.

Word.

Look at all the Olympic interviews and compare them to the after game chat they have with footballers. Some of them are cringe worthy.

I don't even follow a football team. I like a kick about when the weather's nice, that's about it.

I think what's more obvious is the football haters, probably remembering being picked last during footy practice at school, dunno:p

You do have to wonder what sort of person needs no less than 3 super bling SUV's.

A collection of classic sports cars, perhaps. But 3 SUV's... sums him up I'm afraid :p

But he also has a CLK DTM (only 100 made, with 40 rhd models) which almost makes up for that imho :)

I wouldnt say most. Only a few are yobs but the media dont help people's perception, ive never seen "Paul Scholes in quiet night with wife and kids shocker"

You really are keen to point this one out :p

It's nothing to do with being a football hater at all.

Mercedes is a brand which is supposed (whether or not it does is irrelevent) to stand for quality, prestige and class. It is an upmarket brand.

Your average under 25 footballer stands for being good at playing football but slightly less good at things like not being jailed for assualt, forming sentences in perfect English and being able to not spend all their money on bling. I'm well aware that probably the majority are lovely chaps but when discussing image it doesn't take many to tarnish the image of the rest of them.

Had Mr Rooney's awesome footballing talent not been discovered I somehow doubt he'd have scored 3 Straight A's at A Level and then gone to Oxford, do you?

I cannot see what the latter can bring to the former and thus do not understand this decision by Mercedes.

A partnership with some of Footballs more esteemed gentlemen would perhaps have been more sensible?

For the record I think its a stupid thing for Mercedes to do!
Rooney has got the image and reputation that puts most peoples opinions of footballers down.

Infact I cant think of a footballer that would benefit Mercedes' image to be fair.

EDIT
Have you ever been to a football game? :p

Yes Lots, my point still stands!

The vast majority of English footballers we see on our TV's have the eloquence of the Elephant man, as statement of fact.

- Ye know
- Like I said

The 2 statements that every footballer must use in every sentence they utter, the more often the better.............like I said.

Actually I think Giggs would be one of the better choices of Ambassador for Mercedes-Benz.

Yea, I agree. He's always struck me as a thoroughly nice chap. Or one of those BBC commentators. They seem fairly pleasant and probably relate more closely to most Merc customers.

I don't think Rooney and Mercedes makes that much sense either, I just disagreed with the chav comments.

Lewis Hamilton is more annoying than Rooney.

I wonder who in the MB Marketing Dept came up with this one? Must have been some strange looks in that weekly meeting.

As skillful a footballer that he is, i wouldn't have thought his reputation off the field would be something MB would have wanted anywhere near their brand.

So he's trying to fix it by getting a Merc?

He's an agressive/firey character on field, but off field? He's not exactly Joey Barton:p
