Just booked a long weekend in New York City. 4 nights in 2 weeks.

As i need to maximize my fun and time as its a short trip just wondering what are the top things i should be doing? and what isnt worth doing?

I have spent a fair amount of time in the US before just never been to NYC. My hotel is right next to ground zero so i have good access to most places.

Thanks

Dude.

I was there last year for 5/6 days and am going back in a couple of weeks (after Las Vegas :) ) so I'm by no means an expert but I enjoyed the GrayLine bus tours. I'm not normally one for a touristy bus tour but the guys that do the tour seem to be very knowledgeable about their subject.

You'll probably visit the Empire State (ESB) but I actually preferred the Rockefeller Centre, quieter, cheaper and it has glass panels instead of a fence, plus you get to take photos of the ESB at height.

Avoid the Statue of Liberty. The queues are silly and you can always take a helicopter ride if you want to see it.

Go to the Rockefeller centre in the day, and the Empire State at night.

Oh and try to catch a baseball game (Mets/Yankees), maybe a gig as well?

empire state
central park, Ice skating is a must, avoid horse carriage rides, rip off
helicopter trips are recomended, cheap and you see liberty
walk around finance district, ground zero etc
see a show on broadway, get tickets from TKTS
check out times square while your at TKTS
visit macys, i spent 6 hours in there at xmas its HUUUUUUUUUUUGE

thanks for the ideas guys,

I definately want to catch a baseball/basketball game
eat a chilli dawg from a street vendor
see liberty island from helicopter
go up empire state/rockefellor
catch a show
go to cool clubs, sleeping isnt too important on this trip

somone asked the cost?

flights were £75 + taxs from virgin Atlantic which totaled 260 each with tax etc on top.

Hotel is a 5 star Hilton next to ground zero for 4 nights which i paid absolutely nothing for... a cheap old trip really :)

somone also mentioned macys... NO!! my gf spent about 5 hours looking at make up in Seattle once.
