The rest of us wonder/dread the day when he re-offends.
Typical idiotic courts to get it wrong. It leaves us with someone bragging on forums complete with smilies on how "lucky" he was to get away with drunk driving. If only it was up to someone none retard to sentence you, your license would've been taken away for years with a massive fine to boot.

I smell bull****. Drink driving carries a mandatory ban, the only discretionary part is how long it is.

If you don't like magistrates decisions then go become one yourself.
No, seriously - anyone can become a magistrate (you need no qualifications) and it's good to have as many sensible people applying to be magistrates as possible. You don't get paid, but then it's not full time. Apply today.

His "punishment" does not surprise me at all.
My brother drove his girlfriend's unregistered moped down the road whilst drunk with no licence, insurance and helmet. He didnt stop at a give way sign and gets hit by a car, has 14 stiches in his head and breaks his leg.
Gets charged with driving without a licence, no helmet, no insurance and careless driving.
Goes to court - no punishment for no licence and no helmet, 8 points and £50 (yes, £50) fine for no insurance and £100 for careless driving. Taking his total to £200 inc court costs.
At the time (this was in April) I was paying £700 to insure my Primera and wondering why I bothered. The only thing that it made it slightly bearable was the £3800ish bill he got for the car that hit him.
At least my brother showed remorse and actually felt guilty, unlike the op

I have the balls to comment because I only have 9 points and was making an enquiry, not 12 (Might want to go re-read the post before commenting). I got done by 2 mounted speed cameras which quite hoenstly are government piggy banks. Caught doing 44 in a 40, 35 in a 30, etc.
Read back through my post, remource, regret and the lesson learnt not to do it again is stated many times.
I have never been convicted of drink driving and have not even thought about it due to the seriousness of the offence and the damage it can cause. (Yes speeding is bad but I think drink driving (WITHOUT INSURANCE) is in a league of its own).
I have never been to court to have my license under scrutiny.
What he managed to do and get away with is disgraceful. So....there are my balls, you can suck them now or take a rain cheque, its up to you.
I am not condoning what he has done, the fact he has got away with it is awfull.
