ok guys bought an ide controller card a while ago so i add a couple of extra 500gb hd i have lying about. stuck the card in rebooted, windown recognised and installed drivers. tunred off and added the one of the hd's. boot windows and my computer cant see the 'new' drive any where. any one got any ideas on how i should go about installing it?

cheers,

1) Is the controller card showing in Device Manager?

2) Is the drive on the controller card showing in Device Manager?

3) Is the drive showing in Disk Management (right click my computer and pick manage)?

If it's yes to all three then you'll need to partition and format the drive in Disk Management.

Thanks for the reply,

In answer to your questions no to everything! Checked the Hard drive and its set to master, will try slave but any more suggestions?

You need to get the controller card working first. You say Windows detected it and installed the drivers, are you sure it's not showing in Device Manager? It might be in the SCSI and RAID section rather than under HDD controllers.
