I have a wireless network and its unsecured so anybody could be using it.
Plus considering people who drink and drive and drive without insurance get less of a fine how can a court or magistrates say its a fair fine, how about being forced to pay RRP of the game.

Whats the point in paying to pirate?
Newsgroups are pointless if you want things for free.
generally the games that are heavily pirated are those that most never had any intention of buying (much like photoshop and the reason adobe arent really that fussed, its marketing as far as they are concerned) usually because the games are of questionable quality or rubbish, look at better quality games with no copy protection, they have sold well and the pirating was easily offset by the volume of legitimate sales
any downloader with 1/2 a brain uses ssl these days, these large scale piraters likely are not one of those 5000 addressees
fair play firms are trying to protect their assets but chances are a) itll have minimal/no impact on the amount of downloads and b) sales arent going to magically increase on the games that are heavily pirated as they are downloaded to satisfy a curiousity, they had the option to try the game without paying for it with greater freedom than a demo (yes old excuse but its a popular one) and realistically probably would not have bought the game if this free option was not available
Does this mean these companies are bad no, they are pursuing action they feel is just as it is their property effectively being stollen. Will it solve anything, nope. Will these firms continue to produce games of questionable quality and as such always see skewed illegal vs legal distributed copies regardless, most likely

So the big corps such as Apple who sell MP3's in the US for half the price they do here are fair in doing that? Yet the industry 'watchdogs', and I use that term very loosely,
People using FTP / Newsgroups are okay?
They're going after the easy people using P2P and everyone knows that.
Most people who do this kind of thing for home use (i.e. not reselling as that I am totally oppossed to and you deserve to be fined heavily for that) are not hurting the industry. They try it and either bin it or buy it - occasionally people will play it and complete it and not bother getting the original though this is rare especially as most games have some kind of online functionality now.
I don't see the point in doing something like this. Your ISP provided us with your IP and you were downloading this is not good enough evidence IMHO.

1) Because I can use secure SSL connections.
2) Because I download at 1600-2000KB/s on EVERY download.
3) Huge amount of files all in one location.
4) I don't have to upload anything if I don't want to.
I think that just about makes up for the £7.50 a month.
I've had my Newsgroup for like 3 years now, believe me the amount I've downloaded must be 1000x more than the cost I've been paying.

Even though I have easy access to download pc games, I still buy them. I'd always rather have the game disc and box.

thats lame tbh, they should maybe copyright thefre games a little harder like EA , you dont see people playing ea games online with multiplayer, thats because they cant
I don't see the point when I always end up using a cd-crack, plus games install faster from my hard drive.
As for the box, I prefer reading PDF manuals, don't need more bookshelf space taken up either.
Only games I do buy are Valve titles, decent multiplayer games and the PS3 stuff.
No multiplayer games get cracked, well not for the proper servers anyway.
I usually just buy the multiplayer games I want and download the rest.
Offline play will always be cracked though, they keep trying new methods which only **** it up for the innocent purchasers.
Good I really hope all the guilty ones have to pay up.
Sick and tired of hearing about PC gamers who are huge hypocrites.
They brag about how their latest greatest hardware e-peen busting kit costs £££££ and that is their justification to get games for free. Or the other lame excuse is that they would never have bought it anyway after trying their buggy pre-alpha release torrent then slating the game on the web as buggy/unfinished junk etc etc.
There is just no excuse even if a game is poor and you feel its a waste of money then perhaps in future you will remember that or read reviews about it before buying.

That's all I did with it...My mate and I just made our own cutom levels, it was awesome to be honest
