what age was your first build?

I was 12, all by myself. I did months of research on the tinternet to make sure I understood everything and when it came to buying all the parts my parents were like WTF how do you know what goes where!? I still remember I saved so much from my newspaper round to fund the £700 PC! LOL! Lian Li PC-7 case off the bat!

AMD XP 2000+
512MB Generic memory
80GB Maxtor 7200rpm HDD
Asus A7V333 Motherboard
Lian Li PC-7 Case
Generic DVD rom Drive
Liteon DVDRW
I cant remember the GFX CARD, but it was a Nvidia Geforce xxxxx and it had a blue heatsink. LOL

15, it was an AMD k6-2 450mhz, can't remember most of the other specs.
Made little games in BASIC from the age of 6, can't remember any other milestones like first website, first vb app etc.

25/26ish
I didn't really have the dosh or time to until then really. I was earning a bundle, and my job had just calmed down so I was in a position to so I thought i'll get round to it, ordered a bunch of parts. On my second build now.

It amazes me people can build pc's before they have proper jobs though.

16 when i brought one for my self and stuck it together (amd64 3000+, 512meg or ram and the coolest 6600gt ever!, msi with an awesome orbal cooler)

helped my dad with pc rebuilding from about 5 though, started on the day we found a mouse nest in his dual pentium unix box... the motherboard failed when a mouse pee'd on the board.....

Must have been early teens, though I used to rip computers to pieces and donate bits from one to the other rather than buy new bits and pieces. I got the rejects from my parents, and fixed them or did what I wanted with them! I remember it being a 286 with 4mb of RAM and a 10meg HDD! :D

Year 9 in school - Built a Cyrix 166, I actually attempted to incorporate pieces from an old 386 computer, But in the end all i had was the Floppy drive from it.

Nice machine. I think it had a cirrus Logic Graphics card, and Sound blaster Soundcard. Can't remember the RAM

Year 9 would make me 13 I think

I built a server at the age of about 13/14 with the help of one of my dad's work colleagues. Then I built my own PC for the first time at about 17/18. I was a late starter :p

lets see i was 15 and it was a 486 sx 25 clocked at 40 with a big fan / desk top case and a cirus logic 5428 1mb cost me loads, i brought it because of doom :)

built my first PC when i was 14, having gotten my own first PC (a prebuilt HP thing) a year earlier.

Guess around 12 with my Dad I think...and around 15 pretty much on my own, still got a tad bit confused at parts then though.

But at 16 I was doing it all by myself. :)
