Have you ever bought a game thinking it was going to fun to play then 2 hours later find out its not? Have you bought into the hype of a game that turns out not to be to your liking?

What games did you buy or try that you thought you'd like but couldn't get into for some reason? Post your reasons for disliking the game.

Prey. Started off pretty good, but gameplay quickly became repetetive.
Ghost recon advanced warfighter2. Not very exciting imo
Need4speed prostreet. Annoying voiceover, quite boring

Bioshock - really could have been the best game ever, but a flawed gameplay mechanic ruined it

GTA4 - I've never been a huge fan of the GTA series, i bought into the hype on this one, silly me.

Mass Effect - far too short storyline with detached, rushed side missions.

Haze - the concept could have been great, the execution was poor

Gears - i waited for ages for the PC release, all the love from fans spurred my enthusiasm forward. Turned out it was incredibly repetitive, however the multiplayer LOOKED fantastic, but i refused to pay for a gold sub just to get full access to a single game online. The online community was fractured by this whole Live! system and thus really wasn't that great.

Age of Conan. Honestly the worst MMO I've ever played. Too many bugs, crappy gameplay, terrible performance, no balance. It's just broken in almost every way.

Perfect Dark Zero - I know this is a release title, but even considering that, it's a sub standard FPS. Disorientating crappy level design, bland graphics, crap objectives system combined with the confusing level design often left me thinking "WTF am I supposed to do? Where am I supposed to go? What is this? You haven't explained this properly". Ass game.

Same as kittenscake really.

Age of Conan - Was good untill quests started to thin out, class bugs, major end-game bugs, siege bugs it was basically a bugfest nothing worked and it was released far to early. Might come back to it next year when its improved a lot (hopefully).

Lost Planet - Thought it would be good, really liked them demo but then after about 5 missions i lost interest mainly because its a linear process. Will come back to it though just not for a while...

To an extent crysis, been playing it on my new pc... and I was hoping to get more immersed than I am now.. Possibly needs a re-play once I have completed it :p..

Assasin's creed - All that hype, what happened to the game? I'm convinced they were talking about another one.

Resistance FOM: Cruddy gfx, boring gameplay 1 of the only games I just can't be bothered to complete.

Mass effect. Big fan of KOTOR and Jade Empire, just can't get into mass effect. I think the stupid filter on it doesn't help, and the fact Bioware actually thought the control method for the warthog in Halo was good!!!

GTA4 for me, I thought the missions were just simple and tedious at the start and then it would pick up a bit, never did though.

I thought Halo 3 was going to be better but it was still fun to play.

Bioshock was on of my favourite games this gen so I'll have to disagree with the few mentions of it on here :p

You can turn that grain filter off on the 360. I did for most of the game but then turned it back on.

I think once you get into Mass Effect it's fun. The problem is at the start it puts you into the game without explaining anything. It's not as good as KOTOR or even Jade Empire, but it's still a good game, especially if you liked Biowares other games.
