When you do a backup are all your contacts saved?

Yep.
That's what happens when I do a firmware upgrade as well.

Just upgraded to 2.0.2, but will do another backup incase. Do you lose anything, are the messages kept?

I just did an upgrade as well, nope - everything is kept. All settings everything.

Yer worked ok, thanks although itunes has just hung but think it finished the restore. All settings are back. Didnt sort my problem out tho

If I get a new handset, would I be able to do a restore on it to get all my details back from my previous phone?
