Your next car

Something thats screwed together a bit better than my French thing :D

I'm loathed to go bmw because I prefer nimble handling.

My dream cars would be a griffith/tuscan/sagaris or lotus esprit.

Really depends on circumstances with me and what happens to the housing market - might have to take a hit on budget and jump in and buy a place if the prices dip nicely! I've given up on focusing my attention on anything particular as I really won't know until early-mid next year what I have to spend. :)

What I have been considering assuming a 12-20k ballpark:

Elise S2 (if I can fit in one)
Boxster S (despite Poor Man's Porsche comments)
Z4
S2000

The jokers in the pack are something like an old Mustang or a Corvette but I'm not sure I can live with the maintenance and effort in keeping the former running, or the nightmare that is parking in town with the latter.

VX220, Integra DC5, R32 or 330Ci Convertible Sport (E46).

MY heart is set on a VX220, but the DC5 is very tempting... I will be able to insure the above when I hit 21.... 269 days left! :(

I thought the heavier the car the worse the handling, so a sport bmw like a m3 is light & nimble & could go round a roundabout quicker than my vts in the wet?
How fast does anyone need to go around a roundabout in the wet? :p

Bigger cars are certainly not gokarts like little Saxo's are but some big cars do a better job than others. Two of my cousins (sorry Psycho_Sonny, real cousins) own a X plate 330i coupe and a phase 1 Renault 19 16v and they both rate the BM as faster point to point. The Renault is more chuckable but not enough to warrant not buying the BMW. Best thing to do is try one. I've only ever done a couple of miles in a 330i but spent more time in a E61 530i Sport and that handled very well (I was comparing it to a Saab 9-5 Aero though).

I think maybe a Europa or Esprit v8, but i might also be swayed by a XJS or XK8 (old one) as i have always liked jag's aswell, only thing that puts me off the steel bodied cars is rust as i no longer have a garage for my car

Better watch yourself with those old XK8's, the cylinder linings in the pre-2000 ones were dodgy, you could be driving a time bomb in some cases.

I share your lust for those myself though. Don't like the new ones.

depending how life goes, and how soon it is I swap, if it's within a few years then an e46 m3 is the most obvious choice, or possibly an e92 330/335.......then if i keep this for longer OR do better and the e92 m3 keeps depreciating like it is atm, then that or a 996 porsche or something.

So basically, realistically an e46 m3 but id like a porsche :p

I'm not sure

I'm tempted to get a Honda Civic VTI-S but 6k service intervals are putting me off. I'm also after an Alfa 166 3.0V6 in a spate of madness but it won't exactly be cheap to run!

I don't understand why people seem quite positive on the VTI-S yet knock the ZS - I mean its a pretty similar car but with slightly better suspension and a V6!

I know what you mean about old Alfas, I've been looking on the internet at 155s and thinking "you know, I could afford that" despite how much of a timebomb a 10-year-old Alfa would no doubt be.

So many ST220 posts :( ohwell this demand might push the value of mine up a bit haha.

bah stop wittering about other people buying st220's :p

Maybe an Exige, Z4 or something similar next time around, depends on if I still need to lug things around for my job!
