Today both Crytek and Electronic Arts are extremely happy to announce to the community that Crysis Warhead and Crysis Wars (the multiplayer package included with Warhead) have gone gold! Both will ship to stores on September 12th in Europe and September 16th in North America.

Check out some of the videos it looks like it should run pretty well this time round :)
 
Yeah apparently this game is on an engine that has been fixed as opposed to the original which was obviously flawed. Found it amusing that initially crytek put it down to "mislabeled settings", they said medium was meant to be high, high was meant to be very high and the top setting was to be ultra high (enabled when hardware could make use of it).

Despite having stopped patch support for the original Crysis (PC), Yerli said these optimizations could eventually make their to the first game. "That will take a long time, because the fixes are fairly profound," he noted. "We are still in the process of the steps, but first we want to conclude Warhead."

Fairly profound fixes eh, doesnt take much reading between the lines to figure out he stopped short of admitting the engine was in some way broken first time around.

No demo though, might wait till some reviews crop up to find out if the thing actually works properly this time around.
 
Can anyone tell me if this is an add-on to the original game? Do you need the original to play Warhead? Cos it seems quite cheap at 14.99 (just preordered too) Or maybe its stupidly short!!

Standalone, says on the site you ordered it from.. if its the same place as me.
 
looks nice, hope they got rid of the aliens. that part of the game was a total bore. much preferred the jungle missions up to the "cave" level.
 
I found it funny that on the special edition that they talked so much abuot tons of money being sunk into the design for the aliens and how they went through tons of revisions, really they pretty much look the same as those octopus things from the matrix. Sentinels i think they were called.
