Lowest ever MPG reading

9 mpg average on the trip computer over a full tank in my mums scenic last weekend the night before she was due to get her new car. I thought that was expensive enough, then I smashed the sump on a big rock, dropped all the oil and caused "extensive damage to the engine" according to renault.

It's not big or clever to try and kill a lease car the day before it goes back :(

This is a pretty crap thread as most people will post the lowest they've got on the instantaneous readout. Those that don't will lie to get internet cool points.

3mpg, over a sustained period of time, from a 2.5 V6? That's completely crap, the Lambourghini Mercialago got 3mpg whilst being caned by The Stig around the TG Test Track. If you honestly expect me to believe you've had a proper average of 3mpg then you can forget it.

The lowest I've got over a tank is 19.7mpg.

Edit: I've just read how you worked out your MPG. As I suspceted then, completely ridiculous and not at all accurate. You can't measure fuel consumption based on how many miles you can do between the light coming on.

I agree with this guy.

Ferraris being ragged will get 1-3 mpg.

I think your car is running rich, or a sensors gone, or something else.

It's a little diesel citycar what do you expect

It's more than a citycar, but still. When you drive it as hard as I do, you'd expect less than 30mpg!

got 6mpg average from Gloucester to Cheltenham in a Range Rover Vogue. was fun but very irresponsible.

It's a 1.9 TDI PD - it's entire design breif was for economy. It would be pretty poor if it did frequently drop under 30mpg.

It doesn't frequently drop, infact it's never dropped below it. It is as Simon says 180bhp, 400nm. The normal fabia is a city car, the vrs is a warm hatch, especially when modded.

At full throttle?

I used to rag the crap out of a pool 04 plate 2.0td 89hp corolla. That would get 34mpg.

The most socially irresponsible motors thread I've read.

You guys should at least be driving along in 2nd gear with the handbrake on, then measure your MPG. :p

what you got it mapped to fella? 180? any idea on your 0-60?

As of the one before last RR, it's putting out 177bhp,

0-60 time, no idea. Never tested it. It's hampered though by 2nd gears ratio being low, at around 55 you have to change up.

I'll guess around low to mid 7's though 0-60

Worst i've got the Cooper down to is about 29 lol.. and that was thrashing it about on a run a few months ago.. Not exactly destroying the O-Zone layer lol

Thats about the most innacurate way to measure it ever, no-one can give you an answer based on that :p
