Two must see Warhammer Online Vids...

Well if i ever have trouble sleeping the videos in the OP should be able to send me off to sleep no problem. they make the game look unfathomably boring.
then the other video instead of showing nothing going on like the first ones shows far too much going on, so RvR looks ridiculous, far too much going on to have any real competition or fun.
the keenandgraev link reads well and the youtube videos of that hilarious british guy are good and are what made me want the game in the first place, but after seeing actual gameplay im definitely adding this game to the ignore list. It had such promise aswel, oh well, looks like nothing in mmo style will even come close to the first 4 or 5 months of guildwars after release, that was the best game ever for pve and pvp, but they even managed to ruin their own game after a while by trying to make it too big.

oh well, back to counterstrike 1.6 for me. 1 of only a few games around now that reqires any amount of skill to be able to win.

Do you know what's funny, I was reading the first 2 lines and thinking to myself, just go play counterstrike or something and then I read your last line ...

true story btw :)

It pretty much comes down to this.

If you like PvP you will love WAR.
If you like PvE you will probably stick with WoW.

While WAR does have some fantastic PvE mechanics in place such as the ToK and PQ's I still believe WoW offers more to those who love PvE rather then PvP. WAR is a PvP'ers paradise though :D

Well differant views are what seperates us apart, i hated guild wars, couldn't stand how narrow it felt, the fact i had to search for a party when i couldn't do quests made me loose so much respect for the game. War is something fresh, i think the OP's videos were just to show the characters animations and what they look like rather than sampling the entire game.

The trouble with MMO's is that when you play an MMO that you really enjoy nothing else will much compare to it and it will feel like a downgrade even though their are certain aspects of the game you will probably enjoy.

I played Warcraft for a few years then decided to try Guild wars to cut down on the cost but the lack of PVP which made the game for me and the combat system made me not want to play anymore, i have though learned that playing through the start of the game and developing gives you more of a feel of a game rather than reading reviews and basing your entire view on an article(s). I really wanted to go back to guild wars so i did and after getting past the start i didn't find it much to my taste so i eventually quit it after a few weeks.

This really only applies to MMO's though because ultimately their are few things you can enjoy while starting to level up and as you progress their will be things that will make your opinion of the game for the best of worst.

Thats my view on MMo's though i will try anything but i have to give it a good go at before i make my opinion of it.

If you watch the video on the leizpig games convention you will see its pretty much a mixed barrel but you have to enjoy RvR (PvP) to get to the PvE content, by battling your way to the enem's gates you will then set inside their city which is where PvE will start. And he does make a point PvP in WoW does feel very much like an arcade, but really WoW is for people who only like PvP and have no interest in PvP except for the odd battle.

The video is of a beta where people could only make 31 template classes, and so such chars had no investment. On the whole, PvP was a total zerg.
But they beauty of the system in WAR is that you can zerg, or you can form your own tight groups and PvP on your own terms. This for me, using vent to coordinate battles, is where WAR will shine.
For the people who like the very narrow, confined and structured 'PvP' of CS and guildwars, the open world and self organisation of WAR might be too much.

One thing i noticed about those videos is that the combat seems very slow - not exactly fast paced action.

Im pretty much repeating myself but watch some RvR videos, dont put your entire reason for not getting the game on those 2 videos, its just showing the classes at an earlier level and those 2 video's dont justify what the game is about.

Watch misterjingo's video, its a bit better for showing the content and what you will actually be doing in game.

It's not going to stop me getting the game at all ! It's already pre-ordered :)

Yup I would pretty much go with that assessment, if killing AI bosses endlessly and raiding til the wee small hours is your cup of tea, you really cant get too much better than WoW at the moment for it.

If being involved in large sieges and running battles with other players is your cup of tea, then I would say WAR is probably your best option at the moment.

The graphics in the beta were much more detailed, and better overall than WoWs. Google for WoW War graphics comparisons.
Regarding the videos, of course it looks boring as the guy is literally standing still and pushing a button every so often. He just made the chars and doesn't know how they play. Any game could look as dull if they did the same as that guy.

Who cares about the graphics, the War combat looks so clunky and crap compared to the fluid system World of Warcraft has.

Must admit I do like the animation in WoW, now if only they would get rid of the arenas and instanced pvp and go back to a more world pvp orientated game (preferably with keeps and objectives to capture in every zone, and also capturable zones, so that there was actually a point to raiding crossroads etc) then I might have stayed with WoW instead of looking elsewhere for a pvp mmo.

I found this to reminded me of GW, couldn't really get into the PVP too, just seems too much of a zergfest.
