When I manage to finally sell my 530d (which should be soon as the price is plummeting), I will have about 5 months insurance left which I'd like to use up with something quick and not necessarily that economical or reliable.

Stipulations:

Under £1.5k (may push slightly if worth it)
Under 2000cc - this is a must, road tax in Ireland goes stupid over this
0-60 under 8 seconds
Less than 20 years old
Manual
Insurable
Would like a turbo if possible

I don't need anything practical.

My failsome list so far:

e30 318iS (bit slower than wanted but I love them)
Rover 620Ti (yes I know...)
Rover 220 Turbo
Fiat Coupe Turbo
Saxo VTS
Peugeot 106 GTI
Very Cheap MR2 Turbo
Celica GT4
200SX

If I could insure an Impreza or Evo, I'd stretch and have some real fun - but this is all about fun for no money.

Suggestions please...

106GTi :D

Love mine. So much fun to drive. You'd probably want to spend a little more though to make sure you get a decent one. Although someone on 106OC did just get a perfect example for £900!

Neither of those will be at all worth it or possible for that cash...was looking at them last night on PH, you need like at least £4k for either of them.

Can easily get an S14 or S14a for that, just not a mint late S14a, or heavily modded. Excellent condition (as far as can be) S13s easily available for that money

Possible to pick up a Gen 5 celica gt-4 under that budget and gen 6's can be had for 3k+ now due to petrol prices :(

idd look for the following in order,

MR2 - dont know if you can get a decent model for your price

Celica GT4 - can be very unreliable but you should be able to get one in your price range

Rover 600ti - best bang for bucks i can think of, 200bhp, 0-60 7s, you should be able to pick up a nice 98-99 model for < £900

curve ball - Volvo 480 turbo.
Cheap as chips to pick up, get a manual if you can.
Renault 1.7 turbo engine, and cheaply tweaked for 170ish BHP with the "richmod"

Total pocket rockets, bullet-proof, and totally take people by suprise when you blat past them in much more expensive machinery :D

Really? I did find some, but they seemed like they'd be ropey and were NA as well...that was going up to £2500.

I could only see GTs for sub £3000.

I did only have a quick look at PH and the cars that were available. I was more interested in what was available for roughly £2500...but I've got till Jan before I buy, so could pick up something rather good by the looks of the way prices are declining for cars. :D

I didn't look at AT or any other places though, which may have more at better prices. :)
