Play TV Review

Riiight, they should have rated it 5/10 for promising and not delivering despite major delays and dropping the bombshell about "not allowing content to move between devices outside of PSP and PS3".

I would have got a PS3 if this had delivered on it's promises.

Looks good to me, worthwhile upgrade from my tvs built in free-view, just in time to ask for as a xmas pressie.

[EDIT] Erm, actually, can it record while watching DVDs/blu-rays? It mentions games in the review but doesn't mention either of those.

isnt the uk changing its digital to dvbt 2 or something soon so hd can be transmited, so is this compatible ? il buy one if its future proof as i dont have a vcr.

Doesn't the PS3 use a relatively large amount of power? More than a PVR anyway?

I'd be interested in this as I've just cancelled Sky but if it's going to cost a fortune in electric, a different PVR may be an option, especially with the Humax Freesat HD PVR on the way.

you can export videos to your PS3's XMB menu as MPEG-4 video (despite rumours suggesting the feature had been removed). From there you can use it like a normal file - watch it on your PS3, put it on PC, transfer it to your PSP... whatever you like.

anyone else seen this

You have put IMG tags instead of URL!!!

But, yeah read it, now it's back to the original spec!! DRM free copies of the recordings. 70 pounds still seems slightly too high. but now it has a unique-ish feature (I am assuming not that many HDD PVR's let you move files to PC, by design.
