More crytek "piracy" BS

Don't know the numbers off the top of my head, but Call of Duty 4 is around 10 million copies and Halo 3 is around 5 million I think. So with the advertising EA have I'm sure they could have sold 4 million copies.

But look at it, those game are sequel that already have an established fan base, cod4 sold 10 million over 3 platforms it sold over a mill on the PC the same as crysis and nothing can match the MS hype machine thats also why halo sold so well.

What EA published shooter has ever sold 5 million?

Edit: and as for profit made all i say is that if crytek didnt make any money off crysis they couldnt have afforded to go around buying up other devs.

Lmao... I've never heard of anyone agreeing with Cyber-Mav, EVER.

I think that Crysis are forgetting that the majority of the people that downloaded Crysis 'probably' wouldn't have bought it anyway. I was mega excited about the game and bought it on the day it was released... It's just such a shame it has such a high requirement as I really liked it. When I get another rig I'll definitely be playing it again.

I haven't read the thread, cause I'm on my way out the door, so hey.

But they have a right to complain about piracy to be honest, any kind of developer does, be it Games or a Film company etc, They lose sales at the end of the day, and to be hoenst...If it was your game / film getting pirated, after spending 100's of thousands of pounds to develop / create the thing, you would be rather annoyed too :)

If you "can't be arsed to buy it, cause it's not what you think it will be" why download the bloodeh thing in the first place.

I'm counting down the days till the internet is actually monitored properly...Then people will be moaning :)

Well I just hate crytek now, so anything that can be done to hinder them, they don't deserve to make a profit...

Yep, downloaded it, and removed it, it's a load of rubbish, not even worth the hdd space...

Because people can...

Don't play the games, read the thread or bother posting then. And why does a company not deserve to make a profit on a very good game just because you hate them?

I don't understand peoples obsession with hating this game. Sure , it requires hefty power, but most of us to be honest have reasonable computers that can probably run it. Just because they 'promised' that it would run at 60fps at 1920 x 1200 and it hasn't isn't good enough in my opinion to suddenly hate the company. The game itself wasn't to bad either, apart from the spaceship bit, I had lots of fun playing it.
Everyones getting worked up over nothing.

Who knows. PC sale numbers are hard to find. But I bet the Battlefield series has sold a lot. Especially in Europe.

I don't see why Crysis couldn't achieve 4 million sales across the PS3 and 360 if it had come to consoles and not the PC.

Because they lied, one of the developers claimed it'd run on high on an ati 1950, yeah right...
They keep whining about piracy and making excuses for their bad sales.
They made a game that was inferior to it's predecessor ( in terms of gameplay, crysis just plays very badly and doesn't feel right at all).
They locked ''very high'' because you ''need'' dx10&vista but obviously you don't need it and with a custom config you get most of the very high options.

They ****** up, and I just don't like them for that, they should have said in the first place that 8800 users will only be able to play it on medium-high, they should have accepted the bad sales were due to a disappointing title and high system requirements, they should stop making up that every extra downloaded patch means a pirated copy, and they should have allowed very high in game gfx settings on dx9.

I don't know if I truly hate em, but I'm just very annoyed with them, especially because they keep whining about piracy.

They them selfs are pirates when they sell a game thats full of bugs and don't do what it says on the tin for most.I paid for mine and after a week of trying patches gods knows how many different graphics drivers took it back and got a refund because it would randomly lock my comp up. Its a new top spec system and runs all other games for hours on end without problems. You only had to look at the fixes in the last patch to see how bad it was. Shame as I was looking forward to it.

So many things wrong.

Developer never lied. How do you know the High they spoke about a year and a half before launch didn't change to medium settings because they added new features?

Sales of over a million are hardly bad. And yes piracy is a problem, what's your point?

Saying the game isn't as good as Far Cry is quite subjective.

You can't hack the XP version of Crysis to run in Dx10 mode, there's custom configs that change the graphical settings. But you can't enable the Dx10 features, because guess what? You're not running Vista which you need to run Dx10 games and features.

I think you need to join the console section as well or you need to learn how to use Google.

You seem to be new to PC gaming. Games getting patched is nothing new.

I don't, but it still annoys me, as I got my hopes up.

Piracy isn't a problem, it's a problem the industry makes up.

Saying the game isn't as good as Far Cry is quite subjective.
Yes, but I'm sure I'm not the only one.

No, I don't care about dx10 as it barely changes anything, I'm saying most of the very high settings ( except the shaders then) don't need directx10 at all, and work just as well in dx9 mode. Why exactly do higher textures need a new directx version for example ?
I think you need to join the console section as well or you need to learn how to use Google.

I don't like most console games and have no interest of going there except posting 1 post a month or so there.

So again I'll ask, why does a company not deserve to make a profit just because you hate them?

I bought Crysis second-hand and downloaded the patches, I suppose I look like a pirate in Crytek's eyes then.

Far from it.But i do expect it to play right. One expects a few problems with a new game but theres was a shamble.
And at 50 years old Ive been playing longer than some.:)

Most people never had a problem with it. So maybe it was down to your system not the game.

lol read the forums there was plenty having problems and I mean plenty.
If you look at my sig you will see it was more than enough to play the game. You only had to look at the list of fixes in the last patch to see they had a problem.
I paid good money for it and expect it to work
