But washing it removes the sealant if it's EGP or likewise but Not if it's Collinite (again, hence the other thread enquiry).

Think about it, EGP does (edit - not) last a few weeks of British weather, how is it going to still be there after you shampoo and dry the car still? You'll just be leaving the unprotected polish after drying.

I'm not the only one on this forum who has found that EGP doesn't last too long (as long as you say anyway) on a single coat.

I never changed my mind, I just said EGP doesn't last months like you say it does because...it doesn't!

err ive washed my car like 10 times since i put 3 coats of EGP on (4 months ago, 5000miles) and its STILL slick as ever and sheeting water. What do you wash your car with? a brillo pad?

You just said you put 3 coats on :rolleyes:. If you can read, you will see I only use 1 coat and as I already said, I wax after every few washes not every wash (every week) like Fox or whatever seems to assume.

Is it really that hard to understand that on the coast where I live the past few months I've waxed more regularly than previously because of random poor weather.. nothing wrong with my wash routine at all but whatever.

To be honest, I'd always put on more than one coat of EGP anyway. It's much quicker to apply than a hard wax, and can be topped up after a couple of hours of the first coat, or the next time you wash the car.

I live on the coast too, it doesn't seem to affect the Collinite 476 I've got on, but I've been reading a few things recently to suggest Zaino Z-2 and Bilt Hamber Auto Balm are much better at holding up against salt - which is important in the winter months.
 
egp does **** all if there's only 1 coat, you need to put 3 or 4 coats of sealant on to get the benefits

or if it's zaino 70 layers or so :D

you should ditch the wax, sealants offer better protection and finish on silver, better durability too if you get a decent sealant

Why? Every guide ever written to using EGP suggests multiple coats for added longevity.

I just don't think you've got a clue what you are doing, you are just randomly slapping product on your car every 32 seconds and taking 9 million new pictures every time you do it adding silly comments like 'look how it still shines 39 minutes after the last coat'.

Sit down, read some of the guides to using these things properly, and you'll have MUCH more luck.

Sealants tend to have a top up spray option as well, plus so much easier to apply when it's cold!

I am getting tempted to try some of the BH stuff though, I tried their clay at the weekend and I'm sold.
 
yea I have a top up spray with my werkstat kit, although I only use it as a drying aid. Does give it some nice extra gloss when drying the car off :D

It is definitely much easier to apply and remove, which is a shame as I find the hard work of removing a stubborn wax quite satisfying :P
 
Thought I'd jump in on this thread as well...

Spent many a year detailing (if you can call it that lol) my various cars with polish's wax's etc etc all by hand, but never achieved the results that I got when I had these guys to come and do the car professionally:

Alex & Rob from SP spent approx 9 hours on the car, finish is so much better than the camera phone's photo's suggest (I have loads more taken on my Nikon)

The Serious Performance guys get a lot of kudos points over on the GTR Owners Club where they have worked wonders with many of our cars, and not only do the cars look great when done they are also much easier to keep clean and keep the quality of the paint in order afterwards.
 
mk no need to get shirty.

if you think EGP wears out too fast stop using it, or read some guides on why a SINGLE coat of sealant doesnt work

Spent most of yesterday giving it a good wash and polish, used my Dr colourchip and very impressed by it, covered a good number of little chips and some scratches too. Unfortunately no before pics.

Also renewed the rim tape, fitted clear side repeaters and black nuts, lockers and centre caps for the wheels.
