What do you have to do to get a brake?

at the end of the day i know fine well the majority of people would do the same and pelt the ball back at them. In most circumstances people would agree with that.. but the extent people have went to, to explain how terribly awful his behaviour is laughable.

I think you might be overstating the case a bit here to be honest. I don't for one minute believe that the majority of people would make the wrong decision and throw the ball at the kids.

The majority would get out of the pool and either have some harsh words with them or get a lifeguard to deal with the situation.

Do you really think the majority of people would resort to violence over kids playing silly (albeit annoying) pranks?

oh god. If someone was trying your patience over and over, you would just sit there and let them get on with it?

Yes, he would. As would most people in this thread (not all before Morba stomps me :p). They would either ignore it and moan about it on here later, or just get out the pool and go home to avoid the confrontation.

They're also the type to cross the road when a gang are approaching. 'Wouldn't say boo to a goose' type personalities, hence their dependance on this forum for a social outlet.

I don't think what the OP did was right. It's probably not even true, but all these people criticising him should honestly think about what they would do. Run off, no doubt.

17yr old and acting like an inconsiderate moron?

i would say anyone that age is old enough to behave respectfully.

if someone is doing laps of the pool, i would show them enough respect to play with a ball elsewhere or be a lot more considerate.

What people dont realise. is if you got wound up.. you would throw the ball harder.. its the same way if you kick a ball off someones house over and over as a kid, the bloke comes out and goes "FFS!" and kicks the ball as far and hard as he can, over a roof or something because hes irate.

the force he used is the result of being wound up.

17yr olds should know better.

Fair enough they were annoying you and you think it was deliberate. I would have been annoyed to.

But before you hit one in the face with a ball you can:
1. Ask them to be more careful, politely.
2. Ask the lifeguard to speak to them.

They're kids....they cause mischief. They're usually not so hard when someone has a word though.

Ignore these forum warriors, you did the correct thing. You didn't do enough however, you should have drowned one and then used your incredible awesomeness to crush the other with one hand. If any lifeguard got in your way you should have ovary/testicle punched them into space. If all else fails, burn the place down.

he should know better too, infact more so as he should be more mature

kids pranking around doesnt give anyone the right to resort to violence

he threw a ball at him for gods sake. he didnt go and beat him up and break his nose with his fists.

and that matters because?

his actions still lead to a kid getting injured, which the op more or less admits that was his intentions

If the lad didn't get a bloody nose then you wouldn't of been banned.

It's blatantly the lads fault for having a nose the strength of a tinned tomato.

if the ball hadnt hit him i wouldnt have been banned would i? I did bounce it so he couldnt dodge it or predict where it would hit him but that is his fault for thinking he was the bees knees

someone talking like 'yeeeeah bruv shut up man that is deep' is scum and/or a chav

Stereotyping - it's fun for all the family.

he threw a ball at him for gods sake. he didnt go and beat him up and break his nose with his fists.

This line of logic is not great, let's run with it though. If I drop a piano on someone then it isn't actually my fault if they get hurt, it is the pianos or can you, in fact, use many things as a weapon?

Surely we really need a bit more info here to see who was right and who was wrong.

How was the pool split up and what was the official title of the session concerned. All the pools near me have set sessions where you can do certain things and not others.

If it was a session of fun pool activity, then the OP should not have been lane swimming anyway, so he is in the wrong even before throwing the ball.

If it was a session of lane swimming why were the other lads allowed in with a ball, the lifeguard should have told them to leg it.

As it sounds like the lifeguard was happy and content with the lads playing with the ball, then I can only assume it was a fun session and not a lane swimming session.

Very few pools will mix sessions as it is a recipe for disaster, as someone will take offence to what others are doing.
