I thought Connect3D were in liquidation following a mail in rebate fiasco in the US.

I bought a X1900XTX from here and it failed after about 15mths. The warranty details shipped with the card stated the warranty period was 24mths via return to the point of sale.

However, OCUK refused to accept the return as over 12mths had passed since the purchase and they no longer dealt with C3D. I would need to deal direct with C3D, irrespect of the what the warranty papers stated.

I received no reply at all from the many emails I sent to the C3D email, so it's boxed gathering dust in the garage.

Your Visiontek warranty link doesnt work.

You can use this as the Visiontek product link ...
http://www.visiontek.com/products/cards/cards.html

Also if duplicating Asus, Gigabyte etc for both manufacturers you may as well do the same for Palit & Club 3D under the ATI list.

Heres the ECS products link
http://www.ecs.com.tw/ECSWebSite/Products/ProductList.aspx?CategoryID=5&MenuID=8&LanID=9

& here is the warranty link

http://www.ecs.com.tw/ECSWebSite/Support/rmamb.aspx?MenuID=25&LanID=9

(ECS brand VGA Card with NVIDIA Chipset warranty cover from ECS Invoice 36 months for parts and 24 months for part and labor).

As a suggestion (for the lazy) can you put in brackets how long each of the warranties are?

Oh, and as for other incentives to buy from a certain manufacturers I believe that all HIS cards come with the famous HIS screw driver/torch/spirit level thing!

OVERCLOCKING AND WHAT IT MEANS TO YOUR WARRANTY
Also mentioned in the thread was the matter of how overclocking affects your warranty

after looking through all of the warranties i have linked to there is no support or cover for the card as soon as you overclock

weather or not the rma service would be able to actually tell if you had performed an overclock is a seperate [and contentious] issue.

currently no manufacturer covers any form of end user overclocking in their hardware warranty

this means that if you buy a stock card and overclock it yourself using rivatuner or similar then you are effectivley voiding any warranty you have

however if you buy a pre-overclocked card then this overclock is covered providing you leave the overclock at factory settings and do not increase it further

simply put - if you plan on overclocking within the first year you may as well buy the cheapest available model of the card of your choice

the same principle applies for the following modifications in most cases
[some cards warranties cover the application of mods if no damage has been done to the card but this is rare]
applying a third party cooler
pencil mods and the like

basically the card manufacturers are all singing form the same song book in the respect that they want you to take the card out of the box - put it in your pc and not mess with it physically or via software.

I would be very surprised if AMD didn't take your card back as they offer the possibility to overclock your card with their supplied software.

Be interesting if someone could open up CC and see if there are any warranty disclaimers before overclocking. I'll try it tonight.

changes made - include updated warranty info for ati cards suggested by aceshigh

added section for vendor overclocking support and what it means to your warranty

starting work on editing op to include a brief warrenty length for the lazy folk as suggested by nands

starting to investigate if there are any constantly boxed goodies [such as the HIS multitool] from other vendors

Wait a min..

I have a powercolor card, if it broke I'd have to send it to the USA????????????????????

yeah will - info is a bit think on the ground with some manufacturers websites - a lot of them basically just say - check your box

so i guess thats when i have to update info on the post going off what other people say

i have changed the OP now to include a brief on all warranties i could find

Also it may be an idea to email the companies where warranty info isnt specified to see if they will reply with this info and then add that.

one step ahead of you

i emailed all of them yesterday
one has replied and that was palit
they said that to check for warranty i need to check the product box but it is normally a year - going to wait till i get replies for them all then update properly

also changed the visiontek - must have got confused with the massive page of text and url links in my editing box!!!

also - has anybody got any info on a disclaimer for catalyst control center before overclocking?

im not sure - i saw a few visiontek cards on a competitor whilst researching this project but they were out of stock

shame really as they seem to offer the best deal for ati buyers

nvidia really have got it dialled with their partners' warranty schemes

most ati are offering a year or two at best - not good considering how much money gpus cost.

---------------------------

bit of a thread update
have heard back from three of the board partners regarding warranties

im surprised they got back to me to be honest! especially within 24 hours!

i will update the op when i get a few more replies

hope this is helpful to people looking into getting new hardware! :)

anyone got any info on a disclaimer before overclocking in CCC

it will go in the main thread and you will be credited
