Friday is a big-ish payday for me, and im wondering, is CoH and OF worth the £30~ from Game, 'cos they both look bloody amazing, but are they?

Edit out of the competitor and they can be had for a lot cheaper than that.

They are definitely worth it, COH on its own is. One of the best games I've ever played, prepare for addiction. The expansion pack was a bit of a let down in my opinion but still enjoyable.

were can i get them both cheaper, and how was the expansion a let down, i read somewere there was 4 campaigns in it

Company of Heroes: Gold Edition (which includes the OF expansion pack) can be had for £17.99 incl. delivery.

Unless I've got what you're after, dreadfully wrong...

The expansion had plenty of content but lacked the addict-ability that the original game had, but that's personal opinion.

Hmm. I got really stuck on a mission once in this game: you had to defend a hill with limited recourses, tanks/infantry in the face of the rapidly advancing enemy. I consider myself to be reasonably good at gaming in general, but I just couldn't get past that bit and never played the game again... From what a mate said I still had a fair way to go too! I really enjoyed playing that game until then :)

Are there any level skipping cheats out yet, I know there weren't at the time? Or would anyone be so kind as to send me some game saves to try out :p

SW.

awesome awesome game - if you like RTS's then this is the best out there. Played original at beta and have played ever since. Completed the campaign of the first game and then took it online. The expansion - never completed the campaign, but didn't really care about it as I was only interested in the online game.

Take it online as soon as you are comfortable with it. Prepared to be frustrated to hell with it when you loose, but when you win it is the best ever.

Word of warning, when online you might see a few people that look like noobs - beware; loads of alt accounts out there.

Buy and have fun!!!

FYI, the Gold Pack, which has both games, can be bought brand new for £14.99 from many popular places :)

I recently bought the Gold Pack through Steam and it was a bargain. I especially liked the fact that I didn't have to worry about the patching nightmare I had read so many posts about. I just downloaded Steam, paid the money and then had to wait for the 7GB download to complete.

Bloomin great game and the first PC game I have bought in years.

How can using the Eye of the Reich Eagle to survey the battlefield before Blitzing die Amerikaner with a Nerbelwerfer and machinengehwer fire not be awesome?

Go for it mate, I was an RTS sceptic until I played COH, which totally opened my eyes to the genre.

That level absolutely killed me as well. I spent a week on that level - told my friend about it and he told me he'd done it first time, but spent days on the one before....I guess it works different ways for different people :)

Got Gold Edition for around £11 new a few months back - unfortunately the supplier seems to have disappeared - as stated £14-18 seems to be about the best price at the moment. Its DEFINITELY worth it - bit of a steep learning curve to start but on/offline skirmish is addictive in the extreme.

I installed this again yesterday coincidentally.

its just such an awesome game, the single player campaign is mega fun :)

seriously, buy them on steam

you'll hate applying the patches, everyone seems to moan about that, so steam dose it all for you :)
