Leaving WoW for Warhammer?

Hoping its even half as fun as DAOC and ill be laughing all the way to the nearest border keep.

WOWs 'competitive' pvp is a complete joke, bored of it after a third of a season and im looking forward to some RvR again!

I will be losing my sub for wow end of the week. Been looking forward to WAR for a long while. Also personally im much more of a fan to the Warhammer world and lore. compared to Warcraft.
I might play WoW again once wotlk is out maybe swap between the two. Suppose it depends how good WAR is on release.
All we be known soon :D

What competitive pvp? It's just all druid/warrior/rogue groups. That's not competitive when half to three quaters of the teams are with them, it's just down to imbalance.

If all classes were balanced the game would be so much more competitive as you wouldn't need to roll a specific class to do so well.

I am buying both, if i like WaR i'll play WoW so i don't get to bored of one game. If i don't i will probably stick with WoW until i can not stand it no more and quit for like the 5/6th time.

and this

WoW has completely lost it's point, it's the most terrible grindfest since EQ1, but without the soul of EQ.

I dont think I'll be swapping WoW for WAR. Some of the comments left by people going on about WAR have put me right off.

Also the whole RvR stuff seems good on paper, but what happens when 1 side has double or triple the people? There has been speculation to what EA-Mythic might do, but nothing set in stone. Since WAR is all about RvR, that kind of imbalance may result in one side not being able to experience the end game content. And has we have seen with AoC, no end game, no point in playing.

That pretty much sums it up for me.

In DAoC the side I was on had the lowest pop count by a long mile but it was still enjoyable for me. When I was on the lookout for WAR information I read that they will be employing a system which lets them balance sides. It works something like one side is unable to accept new characters until the other side has caught up in numbers.

I'm actually letting my Eve sub drop for WAR. Tabula Rasa is the only other active sub I have. Eve is just too much like hard work, with a galaxy full of people who take themselves waaaay too seriously.

I'm a heavy WoW player thats a bit bored of my current situation in-game. I've rerolled to a different character, server and faction, but am unable to get into any active guild.

I'm planning on buying WAR at release, and giving it a chance. At least 'til WotLK inevitably pulls me back

Well I quit WoW well over a year ago (played since release and abit of beta), because it's such a boring grindfest with raiding etc... Pvp was crap there too, they don't have any world PvP - they used to before they brought out honor points and all that malarky (I know the points system has changed since too!). I've still got a 60 day game card here to use, so I might just take a peek when your new expansion comes out. I've played on it since I might add (my dad still plays), and the game hasn't changed that much!

i wont be, since WAR is a pvp game there will be months and months of whining from various classes say "OMG nerf nerf nerf", where we get that in WOW its still a PvE game under the hood where pvp is optional. A game where PvP is the focus the imbalance of classes will impact on the game more.

A game that focuses on PvP will make sure that the classes are balanced, this is also not a 1v1 game its group/raid type pvp. The fights last along longer too, check out this pvp video and see how long 1v1 fights last... Warrior Priest vs Chosen - make sure you watch it in high quality too. They've thought a lot about pvp and as it's the main part of the game they'll make sure classes are balanced.

I've been waiting for a game like this since I quit wow ;).

I don't do raids on WoW, so I end up in pvp bg's or questing and it's quite repetitive so I think if WAR turns out well then I'll be jumping ship.

ROFL!!!!!

How boring and slow paced is that pvp. Its like watching Snooker.

WoW PvP may not be the best, but its really fast paced.

I can't see myself leaving WoW for WAR, but will defintely be giving it a try.
For me WAR will be a difference with WoW being very PvE/Raid orientated while WAR is more PvP focused.
Without a doubt there'll be some of the PvP issues associated with all MMOs. Will see how WAR pans out from the start. After all, everyone had high hopes for AoC and look where thats gone ;)

WoW is the best MMO for competitive PvP right now, and it has the biggest competitive PvP scene. Nobody can deny that. Also I just like the fast paced dynamic combat system.

Oh my god, that looks INCREDIBLY dull.

And really 2.5 min 1v1 fights isn't that much. I've had plenty of duels in WoW that have lasted nearly 10 minutes, and that is playing as a pure DPS class.

Lets try not to turn this into a 'WOW rox' thread please. You're obviously after something different to anyone who played daoc or appreciates objective based pvp.

Lets try and not make this into a thread about bashing WoW or e-peen stroking War.

I thought that would be true also, until i tried AoC /cries. I hope..really HOPE WAR delivers, but until i see it in a couple of months time, i wont be buying it.

My experience of this from beta is that if people are expecting 1v1 balance, they're going to be dissapointed. The game is focused on group balance - and is balanced in that setting.
