Hi, I will be buying a 1.4 corsa 16v.. Thinking of remapping it :o. But I have the money and the increase in bhp is worth it I think. Where would I go about getting it done, and what else would I need to change. Id get a K+N air filter. Maybe an exhaust? anything else. Cheers

Save the money and spend it on a motor that is closer to what you want performance wise? :)

Have you found out what your insurers will charge on top of your premium for these mods?

You will spend the best part of £500 getting a remap and induction kit and see about a 10bhp increase if your lucky.

Remaps only usually work for Turbo charged cars

This includes diesels however, infact some of the biggest gains from remaps can be had on the VAG diesels.

Its not worth it, regardless of what you think.

Remapping a run of the mill naturally aspirated engine will never yeild noticable results.

That guy in the link is talking out of his ring :)

So, you're doing performance mods on a car that what, 10s 0-60? With the aim of getting it to 9.5s for 0-60?

Trust me, it's not worth it.

if I wanted to make a car quicker for £500, I'd upgrade the brakes and spend it on a reputable after market suspension setup. It wont make your trafiic light sprints better BUT it will make you faster.

That or an advanced driving course.

yea maybe not for all you hardcore drivers with your 0-2 seconds 0-60 :P but for me, a 9.5 car would be flatout. Just like driving a 1.6 vtr

where would I go about getting it done anyways and how much roughly would it cost. Something like 200 or 300?

You wouldn't get much gains, although remaps are good for n/a as well as turbo'd cars. You don't get much gains at all but it really smooths out the power delivery. That said the money it costs wouldn't really be worth it for a 1.4, unless you're getting uprated cams etc and a custom remap :D

to give you an idea though, you could get it done by angel tuning for £235, they quote a 9bhp increase, but quoted gains are always a bit higher than actual

Sounds like you can't be disuaded, but a typical remap for my car is £450-600.

You won't see that much of an improvement though, the figures being banded around are optimistic.

Total waste of time and money. Remapping isnt going to give you anything besides empty pockets.

9bhp.. lol, dunno what that mate was on about. 25 bhp.. Well is a k+n air filter worth it. Only like £50 and doesnt it make it cleaner and sound a bit nicer?

K&N filter is great... if you want some noise.

If you want performance, get a decent CAI (cold air intake), something like the BMC CDA.

The MAF on the corsa C is directly after the filter, and it may have issues with the oil.

BMCs are upwards of £120 for the CDA, or a bit less for the DIA
