SOCOM beta giveaway

Edit: I just noticed it shows in your "Downloads" list in Playstation Store. As we know, each PSN account can be accessed by 5 different PS3 systems :) My account that I got SOCOM on is already linked to 5 PS3s. I think if you just get someone who will share account for a few minutes, you can have it off their downloaded list.

I know it's only a beta at this stage but I cannot help but raise these issues thus far:

  • My god what a terribly bad control system. I found it difficult to actually run where I wanted to properly. It'll take a lot of getting used (that's if I can be bothered with the beta anymore! :o I found it a chore to play)
  • The lag is unbearable. Like many of you who have probably tried the beta by now, there is a sizeable amount of lag which ruins what little experience there appears to be had. No doubt this will improve somewhat come release.
  • The headset earpiece sound playing through the TV mized in with varying levels of volume depending on how far the speaker is away from you is just weird and unpractical. Nice idea, just not practical. I could barely hear some of the guys on my team and didn't like it.
  • The game lobbying system is just plain stupid. Everyone and I mean everyone has to press START before the game starts. All fine and good if everyone is well behaved and mature. NOT if there are lots of people, especially where some are immature and constantly press START and no-one gets to play until they wise up. It would be far better if there was a timer which everyone had to selct their kit etc within a set ever-decreasing period of time.

Obviously, this is only a beta, but I couldn't help but vent my frustration after playing this. As I mentioned earlier, it was actually a chore for me to play. Gameplay wise I was not impressed in the slightest. Nevertheless, I just thought I would post and share my experience thus far.

How is everyone else finding the game?
