My Family

After you've gone

Vicar of Dibley

Does anyone actually watch this stuff.. and enjoy it?

I sometimes accidentally turn over to My Family, and find it so stupid, and not even in a way funny. I'd rather be tortured with electricity than forced to watch a full episode of that show.

Fawlty Towers + Only Fools and Horses on the other hand are good UK 'sit coms' IMO. Seeing Nicholas Lyndhurst in after you've gone is just so painful to watch. Makes me wonder what the hell is he doing!

What do you think?

Peep Show and The Office are on par with Fawlty Towers and Only Fools and Horses i'd say. Us Brits are definitely the best at sit coms!

All those shows you mention are very good, easy-watching shows that are nice to relax to. You don't need to watch it from the start to get the jokes so they are very easy to pick up. :)

Only recently discovered Peep show, found it quite funny to be honest, series 1 for £6 so its getting ordered :D

I don't like ANY English comedy at all and I don't know why. I only find American stuff funny and I too hate My Family with a passion... How can any body find that crap funny? SERIOUSLY. :/

Most of the American comedy shows are so formulaic though (I do like Frasier though) and the UK ones have a bit of a different twist to them.. I like My Family, was better when Nick was still in it :(

They're all a bit....English. i.e. about as funny as cancer.

I don't really bother with TV much nowadays. It has become tiresome.

Dont like much british tv tbh, and when there is something good thats british it never tends to last long, or they dont make many episodes for a series

Dunno, Seinfeld was comical genius and that's American!

Gina: A man is lying here unconscious and you're afraid of him. What kind of a man are you?
Jerry: I'm a man who respects a good coma.

:p

the has been some great British sitcoms over the years

Red Dwarf
Ab Fab
Blackadder
Game on
Peep Show
Spaced
The Royle Family
The New Statesman
Father Ted
Phoenix Nights
Lead Balloon
Bread
I`m Alan Partridge
Black Books
Bottom

theres loads loads more

all worth a watch if your bored with the current ones

The best modern British comedy was Coupling, by a long way. As for My Family and Vicar of Dibley.....they're just inoffensive, occasionally chuckle-worthy and on the rare occasion, LOL-worthy. Lots of good classics, though (Only Fools & Horses, Fawlty Towers, etc...).
