Duvets, Pillows and Bed Linen?

Hi all

Ok might be a bit of a Gay thread but...

I want to buy a new Duvet and Pillows and some Bed Linen to go with them.

I have had a Goose Feather and Down Duvet and pillows before and compared to the usual cheapo crap my parents buy there is a massive difference. And i wont settle for anything less than Goose Feather and Down now. But i dont like the Feathers as they pinch sometimes.

I have done some reading on pure Down and it sound like the best thing you can buy. So, has anyone got a pure Goose Down Duvet and/or Pillows and if so, where from, how much and are they great?

I see that Hungarian Goose Down is the best of the best but it seems very expensive, is it worth going for Hungarian or just settle for normal Down? Anyone have any first hand tips on Hungarian Goose Down? Best place to buy etc?

Is it ok to buy a King Size Duvet for a double bed as i like my duvets slightly bigger? I always found my single duvet for my single bed wasnt long enough.

Not to mention getting a good nights sleep, rather than spending the night tossing and turning. 90% of my bedding is natural and I wouldn't have it any other way. If you want to call me gay then go ahead, but I'll bet I get a better nights' sleep than you (when I'm not suffering from insomnia, that is).

Feathers in a duvet serve no purpose whatsoever save to add weight. People assume 'oh, it's heavy, so it must be good'. TOG, incidentally, is mostly also a measure of weight. Pure down duvets are where it's at as far as the quality end of the market goes. Don't be fooled by their lack of weight.

Feathers in a pillow, however, add firmness. So they're OK there. Avoid the cheap end of the market as they use big feathers with big quills, and it's the quills that cause the problems with getting poked/pinched.

Ikea has some good stuff near the top of their range. I wanted a nice down duvet last time I was there with the missus, but it wasn't to be. She just wanted candles, glasses and Kopparberg. :(
