Cheap and cheerful ?

I do 15 miles on country lanes to get to work so thats 30 miles a day 150 miles a week. I think :p

Pulse Adrenaline

Thoughts?

it'll be great til it goes wrong, which it will. The design of the chinese bikes is sound, but the build quality's really, really awful, and parts can be a pain to get hold of.

A better bet would be to get a cheap second hand japanese bike like a Honda CG125, Honda CBR125, a Yamaha YBR125, or a yamaha DT125.

The DT125 is the coolest if you ask me

That does look pretty fun, but they can be unreliable.

I bought a Honda XR125L for my runs to college, worked extremely well for me as it was pretty fun and most importantly very cheap! Would only cost me around £8 a week for petrol and £15 for 6 months road tax. :) Honda tend to be really reliable and dont require too much maintenance.

Good looking, apparently a good review in MCN.
Nowhere near the buzz of a 2-stroke and will probably have bad depreciation.

yup what he said
i hear they fall apart quick and rust quick cheap bike for a reason

DT125 gets my vote i had one in my youth and spanked the arse off it everyware i went
it never missed a beat :)
you done your CBT easy ?

Easyrider partying? :p

Ok sorry I'll be helpful now. Looks like a decent bike CBT is cheap and cheerful and a laugh more than anything else. Get to LOL at all the chavs with their 50cc INIT

I like

Seriously though the CBT is nothing I'm not even sure how most people pass it. I've seen people come off bikes and still pass it!

What about an Aprilia RS125?

Can prob pick a second hand one up for cheap as chips.

No,

But there is a place near my work.

I have to stop partying under doctors orders so I need something to do.

CBT is easy right?

It would come with a 12 month warranty though?

yes CBT is ver easy
not just the warranty though mate ive herd of frames snapping they are or can be dangerous

quote off bcf about a sanya

For now, they are poorly made to the point of being incredibly dangerous (e.g. Mattsprattuk's frame snapping at the headstock) and I will do anything I can to keep someone off one.

not the same make but is a chinese bike and they all seem the same quality

Whilst there are definitely some dodgy Chinese bikes about they're not all bad by any means. Just make sure you do your research first since there is plenty of info about regards which ones to avoid. I've got a second hand China bike (POR Apache), it's over a year old and still looks in brand new condition. There was a bit of rust on part of the exhaust pipe but all it needed was a quick sand and respray and now the pipe looks like new :)

If you really can't afford a Honda or equiv then a China bike is a realistic option. I brought mine because I just wanted a temporary bike for experience till I do my DAS and get a proper bike in a few months time.

One thing I would suggest regardless of the reputation is to make sure all the bolts are properly tightened, it probably won't be a problem but it only takes a short time to do and it'll guard against dodgy assembly at the factory.

According to the Independent in 2005 Chinese bikes accounted for 12% of all UK motorbikes and 25% of the 125cc bikes. If they were as bad as people make out this certainly wouldn't be the case. Even Honda are getting into the Chinese market having brought the WUYANG brand factories over there.

this is the one for you
the easyrider chopper :D

:D

Went to a Bike shop today and sat on a PULSE the bike looked ok and reviews of it are good.

The guy said in the shop that it was 100% essential to get the bike checked over before purchase. And if I was to buy one the shop mechanic would do this.

They are popular because they are dirt cheap, not because they are any good!

I wouldn't mind a nice cheap 250cc bike to get to and from work, cheaper than my car and would make parking easier, not to mention the traffic. Only problem is, winter is coming :(

And to the OP, 15 miles in winter weather on country roads :O Get yourself some good gear because you WILL come off at least once!

I wont drive it in the wet or snow.

I have my BMW for that!:p

Really! I thought everyone believed a £600 Chinese bike would outperform the £2000 Japanese bikes :D

My point was that if they're as bad as everyone makes out and total death traps then there is no way they would have achieved the market share they've got. Obviously a decent brand Japanese bike is going to be much nicer to ride, but if you only want the bike for a few months to get used to riding/can't afford more then a few hundred then they're a reasonable alternative.
