I've seen more chavvy saxos than that, even with those lights. At least they're not lexus ones!
Just don't drive it the manner of most people i've seen who own one and you'll be fine

No offense but just about nothing sounds worse than a Saxo with a fart cannon.
Oh I can think of much worse first cars than one of the best hot hatches of the 90's. {EDIT} I see you said "can" not "can't", apologies
Surprised people didn't know this was a standard colour scheme too!
I'm not a fan of the lights, but I'm not hugely keen on the standard ones either so no big deal. Any pictures of it on the white wheels?

Don't see many 2-tone 51 plate, VTR's about, South Shields is also a massive 8 miles from Sunderland and it was indeed on the way toward Sunderland I saw the car and finally, it was being driven by a yoof. It was worth enquiring I feel.

Not sure if you've ever heard a Magnex exhaust but they are not loud, if anything you can't hear them at all.

For those to young to remember, it was a standard paint scheme introduced with the facelift. A lot of dealers bought them for the showroom to show them off as it fitted with the max power scene at the time and sold accordingly as ex demos etc. This was the time a Saxo VTR was buyable new for 8k with a years free insurance etc which for the time and alterntives was a right bargain.
Looks nice mate - a bit low for my liking but each to their own. I nearly ended up with a two tone but thought resale would be pretty tough.
Still running the standard manifold with CAT? Switching mine for a Supersprint is the single best thing I've done. Here's a quick vid.

As a first car it's slightly nicer than than the normal stuff especially as you seem to have an example that has only been fondled a bit and not totally violated. Sadly every chav in the NE will assume you are up for the traffic light GP simply because of the car.

Nice car, good to hear that you are not going down the chav route. Standard Saxos are good looking little cars, especially with a drop.
