Total Annihilation on my mums PC made me buy my own PC back in 1998. To me the game was mind blowing.
Soon after I had Quake 2 and nervously connected to a deathmatch server and the feeling was electric running around a map with other people Soon followed by a £300 phone bill
Then came the PCs golden age with the mods that were better than their parent games such as CS and DOD and so many more.
Very first game was 4d boxing, which was awesome, it ran poorly on my 286. At the same time i bought a game which name escapes me, but you were a surgeon and had to diagnose and operate on people, it ran terribly as well.
i took 4d boxing into the local computer shop who had a 386 just installed and it ran smooth as butter
