Final Fantasy games

Just wondered if any of you lot have played every single FF game ? I've played them all and spent many hours on the online version being number 11 (FF XI).

But after watching this youtube clip, I've come to the conclusion that the reason I didn't enjoy some as much as the others is due to the fact that they don't have the original prelude music :P

I didn't like 8, or 12 and both of these have different opening music ^_^ 10 was alright but not that great and again I blame it down to having slightly different music. It does have the original music thrown in there, but not like the rest.

So on my theory hopefully 13 will have the original music and I know it will be great :)

FF7 > FF10 > FF8 > FF9 > FF12

Reason for the order? The storyline, it's what makes final fantasy games for me, 12 seemed to completely lack one :p

The music is important though i do agree, i didn't get along with 12s music either now i think about it. Ironically the perfect final fantasy game for me would be FF12s gameplay with FF7s storyline and FF10s music + voice acting (i know it was cheesy, but it has the best voice acting out of any of them).

Thats my order I still say FF7 is the best game i have ever EVER played enjoyed it from start to finish not one second minute or hour to i regret playing that game.
its the only game i actually bought the soundtrack too O_O

Love that prelude theme. :cool:

FF7 brings back nothing but great memories. Getting home from school and playing it right until bedtime. Best game I've ever played.
 
I did recently see a limited edition boxset of FFVIII on a well know auction site, buy it now price £240-odd :\

Then a few weeks laters everyone seemed to want to sell their's, think i'll keep mine for a while longer.

FFVII is the only one I managed to finish, haven't played it for a long while though. I seem to remember there being an ingame timer of 99 hours then it stopped. Mine was on 99 for weeks before I finally managed to complete it (not 100% of course, if anyone ever did?) I used to love leveling up, try and find somewhere that would give decent exp points and spend a few hours a night grinding away.

ive enjoyed all the FF games that ive played. personally i think FF7 was the ultimate, followed by FF12 which had immense gameplay, then FF8 which had the immense storyline. FF7 managed to have both :D

Not played 12 enough to decide fully where it fits in. And I can't remember FF5 properly or FF1-3 :o

Final Fantasy VIII (Good)
Final Fantasy IX (Good)
Final Fantasy X (Good)
Final Fantasy X2 (Bad, Very bad...)
Final Fantasy 12 (Imo it sucked)

Thats all I've played, I hope 13 gets this great series flowing again =/

I think Final Fantasy threads should be banned. Everytime i read it I need to go play FF7, and i keep thinking of the remake that i hope (pray) they make.

Oh god i have the urge to play it now!
 
Thank god im not the only one who hasnt enjoyed a ff game since X. X-2 was bad bad bad. XI was a grind fest and i dont get on with those types of games. and XII i didnt like either

I personally think Final Fantasy 8's storyline was miles better than 10's.

But I preferred 10 over 8 just because of the magnitude of the game.

7 > 10 > 8 > 12 > 11 > 6 > 9

I think my list may change slightly everytime i post it lol. Depends on frame of mind possibly. 7 > 10 > 8 never changes though.
 
10 wasnt a bigger game though? 8 was HUGE.

What they need to do is the following

PUT BACK THE SODDING WORLD MAP!!!!!!

/im so tired of modern FFesque rpgs with no world map. I thought lost odessey had cracked it but nope, pick your sodding destination from a list. If bethesda can craft and entirely free roam world then why cant square put a sodding roamable world map together?!?! pee's me off!

You need a world map its one of the things that make these games imo. Being able to easily go visit where ever at pretty much anytime
 
Oh, Yeah the map is a much needed re introduction. With regards to 10 I was talking more on the scale of longevity. Dark Aeons, The Arena challenges, The Ultimate Weapons.

Although Penance was crap, It was less of a battle and more of a mathematical statistics war.
 
I think FF7 is the best game ever made, but FF8 had more of an epic and grandiose feel to it. It's definitely riding the waves behind FF7. The rest are good but they simply don't compare.
 
I agree.

7 had a feel that is unmatched by any game ever for me. I actually hate the spin offs like Advent Children and Crisis Core. They are decent enough, but they are really nothing like the original. The same characters, the same locations, but the feel that placed them all together into something truely epic has been lost. I don't think Squaresoft have it anymore unfortunately :(
