Hi guys

A while ago I found a voucher code on here a got a whopping deal on a 2 year 10 user license from Kaspersky.

Does anyone have any voucher codes (or as they call them, coupon codes) that are valid now? I'm after a two year three user license.

Cheers :D

i remember that think it was a 75% off or something.

iv just got me 1 year licence for 3 pcs from barclays bank, if you do on-line banking with them

its for the internet security package.

Thanks for the reply

Unfortunately I don't bank with them.

Yeah it was great, about £80 for all that :D It was Kaspersky 7 at the time then I got the free upgrade.

Anyone else got any codes for them?

If there's any codes for it, you'll probably find them at UK Hot Deals, that's where I got mine a bit back. A quick search there revealed a 1 user licence for a tenner.

Just grab the OEM discs from OcUK. They usually work out cheaper than the "discounted" online prices anyway, and you get the media to boot :) That or install Avira Antivir instead; I dumped my paid-for NOD32 and KIS licenses for Antivir, which says a lot really.

Is it actually better? ;\

Is Avira Antivir better than NOD32/KAV(KIS) you mean? Well according to AV Comparatives; yes. It's tit for tat with the top three to five AVs anyway imho. Take what works for you and doesn't have a dismal record and you should be fine with some common sense.

For me, NOD32 was getting flaky. It wouldn't allow me to download Comodo Firewall as it was a "trojan". I verified my results on another PC and sent the details, logs, screenshots etc to Comodo and Eset. Comodo's MD wrote back to me personally thanking me for the heads up, confirming my false positive himself. Eset's reply to the fact NOD32 flagged CF incorrectly? A MONTH later they replied with "No it doesn't."

Then once I'd installed Vista Ultimate x64 I couldn't use Windows Update even with a clean install of NOD32. Support were useless. I'd been using NOD32 for three years before this. KIS was OK, and I bought 6x licenses. But again, it's naggy, rather bloaty and needy.

Avira Antivir is FREE and acts like NOD32 used to. Quiet, light, and does the job so you don't have to. I found I spent more time dealing with KIS than I did on actually doing stuff - with Avira it's set and forget.

Just my 0.02 - ymmv :)

Been using kaspersky since I reformatted, it's OK but a bit annoying sometimes wanting to scan every single application I download whether it be audio drivers or software trials.

I used to use AVG / Avast free but never really felt they did much (had to scan myself to find anything). Does Avir have good on-access protection? (like if I download a dodgy rar file with a dodgy .exe kaspersky finds it before it finishes downloading) + cancels it.

Isn't AntiVir the one that has the annoying pop up screen every time you start the PC asking to you upgrade? I seem to remember that you can disable it but only with XP Pro.

I went though a lot of AV packages and Kaspersky was my personal favorite, although i found the Internet Security package a bit too intrusive so i only got the AV software.

You can disable the splash screen in XP/Vista by adding a command to you reg file.

I paid for Antivir worth the money imo only 12pounds for ther year.

I installed kis recently - barclays free offer. I have only used basic av programs before and tbh I am finding some of ther features of kis a bit annoying. Mainly the way it limits every program that starts unless I manually set them to 'trusted'. A lot of the warning messages it displays about processes don't mean anything to me so I either accept its recomendations and block them all or ignore it and allow them which seems a bit pointless. I suppose it will get less annoying as I set my frequently used progs to trusted as I use them.

The other annoying thing is that I turned off its anti spam service and now windows (XP) sec center keeps popping up telling me that I am at risk because my anti virus is partly turned off.

I have just reinstalled win on my laptop and am wondering to stick with kis, see whther my free code will work with the kaspersky anti virus only or go with antivir with the xp firewall.

You can use the code in KIS but only install the AV module = essentially end up with KAV instead of KIS. Personally I just went to Antivir instead as above. BTW, Thundycat, you can disable that popup in any OS from 2000 onwards (and maybe 98?) with a couple of clicks. In Vista it's even easier if anything. I'm not gonna explain it here but google Antivir nag screen should give you the solution ;)
