thought it was horrendously difficult. using the DS2 sticks for control feel clumsy. i always have the age old problem that when they get the ball i chase after em and cant catch em.

Don't agree at all about not being able to get power behind shots, I've hit some absolute crackers so far. Yes some shots are abit floaty if you aren't positioned right or hit the ball with the wrong foot but it happens in real football too. Anyone see Alonso's shot today, for example? ;)

i can see a lot more wonder goals in fifa09 , its seems a bit easier to shoot from distance , which is better, i always found it hard to make a shot from distance in fifa08

The shots don't exactly look thunderous when you hit a 30 yard screamer to the top corner (Which I've done a few times). They we're the same in 08, and it's not a problem, but I don't often hit a shot and think it's going to beat the keeper by power alone.

I don't know, maybe it's my expectations that are a little off and the ball is actually travelling at a roughly accurate pace.

Obviously this is only from brief demo play, but long range shots (and by long range I mean pretty much from halfway) were a lot easier in 08.

Just experienced my first real bug in the game. Penalty shoot out, opponent misses, hits it wide of the post. The the screen goes black, hit start, come back into the game and its a goal kick. The penalty icon is still in the top right corner and i play some footy, go up the other end and hit the post ;P then its back to finsih the penalties lol. Was rather bizarre.

Absolutely loving the game, cant stop playing it. Started playing on World Class or whatever the difficulty level is and its a damn good challenge. I normally stick at semi pro in previous Fifa's on the PC.

Thank god ive got the friday off when FIFA09 comes out. I literally wont be able to sleep on thursday night!?!?1?

I won my first game on medium 2-0 v Milan, first game on highest level 3-0 v Madrid (That's not to say I think I'm decent on the game, I'm still not at the point where I'm certain of winning every game on medium).

when is it out for PS3/X360

Hmm..not convinced by the demo. Sure, it looks nice, but I still don't feel in control of my players like with Pro Evo. Will stick with it for a bit more of course.

This is the PS3 version I'm talking about.

I think it's possible you might never get on with FIFA.

As much as I like the game (and prefer it to what Pro Evo has become) it's certainly not perfect. Its still behind Pro Evo in certain aspects, and while it doesn't always have to be FIFA v Pro Evo, I put so much time into that game that I can't help but compare the two.

The one thing Pro Evo has always had down is the flow of the game, the responsiveness and control you feel you have over the players at all times. It's not something thats easy to articulate, the best way of describing it would be having Pro Evo at one end of the scale, where you feel like you have complete control over your players' every action, and at the other end Virtua Striker which was the most unresponsive footie game I ever played; it was always a struggle, but as it was basically the 40 yard screamer/overhead kick game, it was still fun. FIFA falls somewhere inbetween these two, and possibly a little closer to the Virtua Striker end of the scale, which is why I think it's one area that FIFA probably won't fully catch up on.

FIFA does enough right in many areas to make up for this somewhat (but also Pro Evo has done so much wrong that it's hard not to turn away from it) but the control of the game is such an important aspect, I can see why some still have trouble with FIFA.

Just to show how much players appearance has improved

Night and day difference that a lot of players faces and appearance are much better done a lot of work. :)

Some strange things just happened in a match I just played.

I gave away a pen, they hit the crossbar and it came back out to one of their players, he shoots and scores.

Turns out he is offside though.

Also I tackled some one, the advantage thingy came up at the top of the screen, I won the ball back after it went then played another 3 or so game mins, took a shot with the same player (Deco) who made the first tackle, ball goes out for a goal kick, Deco then gets a yellow card.

that's not weird. the ref was just playing the advantage and then when the ball went out of play, he rewarded the card for the foul.

happens in football.

I'm enjoying the PC demo better than PS3 demo.

The PC demo to me is more responsive, and you can build up the play in the midfield better than the PS3 demo.

Didn't take to the '08 version with the few weeks I tried it, and i'm disappointed to see that it's still restrictive with regards to the feel of the players you have.

To me, the gameplay is suited to those who play direct and counter attack as quick as possible, it certainly doesn't suit the purist.

Thats not to say it will be different with the final build, as i've read people saying the difference between the the '08 demo and final build.

Yeah but PC version crap in so many other areas not to mention its same old PS2 engine that PES crapped on last gen. Dosnt have the same next gen physics and engine either not sure about complaints of responsiveness tbh Fifa 09 way more responsive then Fifa 08. But i respect your opinion all same i didnt have much problem with Fifa 08 but Fifa 09 whole new level and so much better then PC imo.

As for building midfield that not true at all imo with new passing and responsiveness allow you to create lovely passing games that wasnt even possible in Fifa 08 to extent it is now.

As where on talk about PC this reason from EA representative why PC version dosnt have next gen graphics and physics.

The PC version of FIFA 09 is different to the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions because of the CPU processing power required for the architecture of the game.

The majority of gamer's PC's do not have enough CPU processing power for this architecture, so FIFA09 on PC has been built to have the best possible graphics and gameplay engine while still being accessible to as many fans of the game as possible. If the architecture was identical to the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions, FIFA09 on PC would only be accessible to 1-3% of the PC systems on the market.

Having said that, FIFA09 on PC delivers a very deep gameplay engine, along with leading-edge visuals.

I think this years Fifa is very very good, apart from one thing. The shooting.

The shots seem to float and dont appear to be as direct as 08, the amount of curl you can put on it in the arena is too over the top.

Fair enough having curl but not 10 yards after the ball has been struck. I do think its great but not with the floaty shots.

Its a bit different in the arena to the actual game though, you have nobody around you and all the space in the world, get into a game, you have to create space to get a good curled, clean shot in, otherwise your pressured too quickly and your shot if poor, im just glad its a lot harder to score in this game, it will come eventually id imagine like it does with most fifa games though

What level are people playing on to find it hard to score?

phhh...most of them to be honest!

I'm new to FIFA though. This will be the first FIFA I've bought since FIFA 98. Since then I've been a PES player but am now converting back after thoroughly enjoying UEFA.

So to cut a long story short....I'm rubbish and can't score, period!
