Have you ever seen or experienced something you cannot explain?

What did the documentary tell/clear up for you?

Before it I had no idea sleep paralyses existed or what it was.saw the documentry when I was around 15ish. Been having sleep paralysis since i can remember. Use to scare the hell out of me especially when I was 6ish and waking up unable to move in a room full of snakes. Now I know what is happening and thus just ignore it, or fight it for the sake of it.

you do realize that these experiences arent fully explained as yet. (talking about sleep paralysis). Parents wouuld be as much in the dark as anyone else...

not fully explained but well understood. There caused by chemicals and at certain points in the sleep cycle. They aren't anything un natural.

Acid you cant trick me :p

Caused you say ehh? :D No such thing...yes its observed and noted that differentiation occurs.

Tell me what un-natural means, as im not sure on its meaning in this context.

I'm all for scientific advancement of real knowledge but not when it goes round in circles.

You cant explain something by appealing to something else which isnt explained either ;)

I file this method of explaining something under The Truth Redundancy Principle (TM)

Sleep paralysis occurs when the brain awakes from a REM state, but the body is still paralyzed.

REM atonia, a state in which the motor neurons are not stimulated and thus the body's muscles don't move. Lack of such REM atonia causes REMBehaviour disorder; sufferers act out the movements occurring in their dreams.

We can describe whats happening and note with interest that other things are present (or absent) during event X but the conclusions and Meaning we apply to such events ARE MAN-MADE ergo its is a belief system.

Now I know what is happening and thus just ignore it, or fight it for the sake of it.

Try this Please: Next time dont fight it do the exact opposite. Try to be very very relaxed, let yourself drift. Theres a certain mind state you can get to that will bring on the vibrations (if thats not occurred already?) (and techniques that will help as well) It might feel like you are being electrocuted or shaken very roughly. It can be unnerving but dont ignore it.

By unnaturally, I mean being taken over by a spirit or some other crazy thing some other people think and as we can see it is caused by the brain and body being out of sink.

If you relax you just fall back to sleep. If you fight it, you will eventually snap out.

Are you talking about something like a tingling sensation. Almost like you can feel something flowing through your vains? If so I've experienced that. What importance does this have?

Very little except that the latter assumes that everything has a logical explanation if you know enough about it. It is possible that everything in the universe has a rational explanation but I couldn't count on it just yet.

//edit and I can't think of experiencing anything that can't be explained.

good good :D Theres another reason why to adopt the assumption that everything has a rational explanation...i'll call that method the "Sanitized Limitation Adoption Protocol" :D

What that means is: regardless of whether something is X or Y if Mankind only ever has the capability/capacity to understand X then X is the Truth. Y doesnt enter the equation.

What does this say? Well it says that man's knowledge and the truth are inextricably linked. So the truth/the explanation isnt out there its in your head. (add in cultural, geographical, biological factors etc etc)

So there is no X or Y out there.....hrmmm bugger....ive lost my train of thought.. not sure that was very clear.....(my state of mind was interrupted by noisy flatm8 making dinner)

well you get to go on some pretty fun and bizarre adventures dude.

Its more a juddering sensation that runs through your whole body and can be very loud. Next time you get that try to increase them. Imagine they are sort of electric current rings running through your body. So concentrate on them getting more active or louder, push them with your mind or pretend to. After all that and the sensation is *really* intense... (like its rippling throughout entire body, loud buzzing etc)

imagine you are floating upwards.
