Artifacts with low GPU Temp?

why am i getting artifacts on my ati 4850 in world of warcraft, but no other games give me artifacts?

gpu hits 57C at max load.
cpu 32c

If you have the clocks turned up on the memory and its not strong enough it will do that even if the temps are low .

the card default/factory settings are:

650/700 memory and
1000/1200 GPU

should i lower the memory to 500? the minimum? because the defaults are screwing it up.

You can try but it's most probably screwed. RMA time!


What kind of artifacts are we talking about by the way? I'd download Furmark or ATI Tool and check there.

loads of flashing boxes.
and also moving objects "dragging" the colour of the floor around with them which are usually a triangle shape.

why are the artifacts only occuring in 1 game, my other 6 games no artifacts and they are much more stressfull on the card.

(ive just ran ati tool artifact scanner for 15 min with 0 artifacts found bit in WoW there are artifacts)

I had the same problem some time ago with my 3850 in WOW. Rarely it would display such things in the game but then after a restart everything was fine and the card didn't show any similar issues with much more demanding games. Might be a drivers issue, have you checked different drivers?

damn, ive lowered the settings to lowest memory/gpu clock and im getting artifacts all over the place in Warhammer online, and other games now.

So i HAVE to RMA it? the temps for the GPU are at 56c max load, which is cool right?
whats going on. ive also got the latest drivers for the card.

Bad card , send it back.

You should have no issues at 56c at all .
