Spec me a way to leave my job

Here is the deal.

I started this admin job about 2 months ago, soon after finishing uni. It looked a good starting point for me to build up in the world of work(+get some cash for masters).

Its not my first experience with admin positions but this was somehow thoroughly unfulfilling. In fact, my 8-5 encounter with my boss often makes me feel like a total idiot by the end of the day because he often switches his mood from very bright to awful very quickly(due to side factors from what I see). When he is annoyed, it feels almost as he is an inch close to sacking me and, if I happen to try and argument myself(in case I know I am not responsible for the problems), it gets even more problematic and often trivial. A rather clear example is when, in a formal e-mail, I wrote "Following our recent conversation" as opposed to "As a result of..." (which is the one we are meant to use), getting myself a 10 min lecture on how generally cr*p I am at writing formal letters.

On the other hand, if I am to leave, I get no income at all and I cannot be certain about getting a better job. This job is just 15 min away from our house and is not physically demanding. At the same time, while being often an arse, my boss is often excited in regards to getting me involved into longer-term projects of the company and it feels like a sure let down if I go and say to him "I quit".

These were my thoughts throughout my first weeks of working there.

The icing on the cake however, came from my mother who started troubling me almost every evening, generally arguing with me that I did a mistake going for this job, that I should aim higher and for more money(this one is 15k pa and I agree its quote peanuts). This is why, for the sake of my nerves that only dont get tested when I sleep, I decided to look into an exit for myself but Im not sure how. I mean is it not gonna be bad for my future jobs if I happen to quickly leave my previous(as being seen unreliable)? Should I make up something that obstructs me from working for them anymore? Or should I reconsider quiting for a while, given the current situation as it may be getting harder in finding new jobs?

What do you guys think?

Be a man and just leave and stop making stupid threads on this forum we have better things to read than this rubbish, your not gonna listen to a single thing anyway.

a) Don't be afraid to let your boss down. He sure as hell won't do the same for you.
b) Look for other jobs before you jump ship.

Look for something better, then leave. You can use the excuse that you've been offered a job with a higher pay rate and better benefits etc etc.

1) Go to B&Q
2) Buy a hammer, chainsaw and extra durable garden sack
3) Contemplate your inability to make life decisions
4) Chop your own head off with the chainsaw

PS the sack is for the cops to use, the hammer was just to waste £3.49 of your money

Bit harsh.

I still laughed though.
A slightly over the top, but undeniably effective solution :D

That's not what John Darwin thinks

Start looking for another job, agencies etc and just leave off any references.

Then once you have a found something suitable, hand in your notice and be rid of the rubbish job.

End.

Start looking for a better job but stay in this one for the time being, as it is easier to move whilst in employment.

What did you do at Uni out of interest?

Thanks for the responses, guys! Having a laugh at your own expense could be unique feeling:)

Btw, I did fake my death once(school) and this got into some real trouble after a while..

I suppose it makes sense to simply sniff around until I find a better job. I dont need the money from the current one THAT bad but I also know that I wont be happy, after a few days, just sitting on my bum.

Walk backwards for a day. Or shuffle backwards doing the butt shake thing.

Care to demonstrate us? It sounds interesting:)
