DC5 replacement

I've always wanted a Porka!

993s are very desirable and so you pay over the odds for one IMO, unless you have an air cooled fetish. £15K won't get you the best example. You'd get a mint 964, but probably a bit old. Boxster S would meet most of your requirements except the servicing costs, but then most of the metal that ticks the other boxes is going to be more expensive than thew Teg to service.

Black is awesome, hence me buying a Meguiars G220 soon :D

S2000 with a Supercharger upgrade is a damn good option for you, maybe an early version so you can spend on suspension/brake upgrades too

I think you will be dissapointed in a S2000 if you came from a DC5 mate :) OK i only test drove one but over the long 45 minute test drive it just didnt gel with me and felt a bit too "comfy"

Have a look and a drive of a VX220 Turbo or a 11R elise, if its a weekend car then i cant see a better car for you :)

I'm sure you wouldn't if you took it sensible and learnt how the car drove.

Admittedly a TVR isn't the most sensible starting point for RWD, but what the heck ;)

Good attitude. You only live once and all that. Hmm, it is an interesting possibility. What BHP are they?

Plus, won't it break down every 3 yards?

i dont think the 4.5 cerbera was that bad

Its not exactly Japanese, but it was reasonly low tech. The problems with lots of stuff failing didnt start till the lesser models.

oh and the 4.5 cerb is 420bhp.

420 bhp!

Hmm. Hmm. Very tempting. Is it a death maker if not given respect?

Yes

no traction control.
no abs
no driver aids

If your capable of self restraint then theres going to be nothing to touch it for the money. 0-60 is under 4 seconds and is supercar quick.

Its just the sort of thing id have as a weekend car. At the end of the day, you dont end up backwards in a ditch if you drive sensibly. You'll end up in a ditch backwards if you spend hours on end doing nothing but hooning round B roads trying to go as fast as possible.

If thats the sort of thing you do, possibly not the car for you.

not untill you've got some more RWD experience at least.

Probably not for me then, I drive too quick on B roads. Nuff said. Hmm, might just ***** a load of cash on it and have the engine built.

If you get it wrong in a FWD car, its usually relatively easy to avoid ending up in a hedge so long as you dont provoke it with lift off oversteer

RWD on the other hand, the back can just slide away from you. Thats why so many VX220 turbos have ended up wrapped round trees.

I've had one 5p 50p moment in my DC5, I found out that they don't drift too well. Coming of a roundabout (the A444 M6 junction heading toward Coventry) too quick in the wet. If you don't know it well or at all then it goes round to the left and downhill on a slightly adverse camber. Left the roandabout at speed and started understeering toward the barrier, front wheels started spinning so diff was no use, so thought life off gently. Well, went back to front and almost smashed her up in the trees on the left but thankfully I managed to control the skid and ended up with a slightly kerbed wheel. Anyway, enough of my bad driving lol.
